Inland Valley Daily Bulletin Inaccurate (Border Patrol rebuts Minutemen report)

Inland Valley Daily Bulletin Inaccurate

(05/09/2006)Statement Today’s report by the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, “U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols,” is inaccurate. Border Patrol does not report activity by civilian, non-law enforcement groups to the Government of Mexico. During a detention of a legal or illegal immigrant that produces an allegation of improper treatment, Border Patrol reports the allegation and allows the appropriate consulate to interview the individual in custody.

This is consistent with the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963 that provides consular access to foreign nationals being detained by a foreign government. This is the same agreement that protects United States citizens when they travel to foreign countries.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Border Patrol continues to appreciate the efforts of civilians who contact law enforcement authorities regarding suspicious activity.

Well ohioWfan, I gotta respond with a big OOOSHA!!! But us crazy Artillery folk are the only ones in the Army who do that. :) I've been out for many years now but I'll proudly carry my time in the Army with me for the rest of my days.

That's the version on the official Army page, so it would be hard to match the harmony.

Finally, tell your son that there are still many of us praying for them, sending warm wishes and are in full support of their efforts.

Unfortunately, that is what many threads have become lately, especially the border control threads.

Makes one wonder

The only thing I am wondering about is how you couldn't work Valerie Plame and Iraq into your post.

I SAW the TV clip of the Q & A...when President Bush made that statement...you could tell he was warning any "generic" groups that might want to play vigilantes, NOT to do it. He in no way even realized, IMHO..that the questioner was referring to the actual Minutemen, but if he did---he was just warning them not to go to that next level.

Exactamundo.

Hernandez is obnoxious. I'd love to see someone wipe that freaking smile from his face. Why O'Reilly has him on all the time, I don't know - unless it's part of his "expose the left" program.

No. The President was. Who else was the reporter referring to?

Interesting how Spice left immediately after that post.

Don't feel to bad, the fierce keyboard warriors on the threads just love to have a go at my posts.

It's a good way to let them vent their spleens

To not suspect overt disruptors is to be terribly naive.

I guess I'm naive then. I don't automatically assume because someone critisizes Bush they're a disruptor.

"Does anybody realize the seriousness of this report if what the newspaper reporter said was true --"

Let's hope it is NOT true. While there may be a small minority here in FR (with multiple IDs) that support illegals to a point that they call those against illegals "Bush-Bashers", we all do share a common goal and that's to keep the dems from gaining in 2006.

While we still have time to encourage the Bush and GOP to return to their conservative base and secure the borders and say NO to Amnesty... if this story is true...it will be a HUGE gain for the democrats and you'll see the dems and the liberal media quickly jump onto this story. Let's all hope it's NOT true.

For the sake of the GOP

"It's a good way to let them vent their spleens"

That isn't all they're venting. I just wish they'd leave it all in the DUmpsters they come from. Still, you've got to hand it to the libs...they vowed they'd come after conservative websites after we proved so effective in 2004. And here they are, stirring up the mud while offering no substantial dialogue in return.

MR. McCLELLAN: A couple of things. I mean, the President spoke to this issue last week and I think he addressed it very clearly for you all. In terms of President Fox, I'm not going to try to comment for him -- you might want to direct those questions to his office. But I know that the Department of Homeland Security, regarding the question you're bringing up, tomorrow is going to be having an announcement in Tucson, Arizona, about an initiative they're undertaking along the Arizona border to better control the border there. In terms of the issue of the Minutemen that you bring up, again, the President spoke to that issue last week. And it's one thing if people are working along the border, simply to report suspicious activity, and that activity should be reported to the proper authorities -- the Department of Homeland Security officials, who are there to enforce our borders. If people are operating outside of the law, that cannot be tolerated. That's a different -- Q Well, that's my point. That's what they're doing -- they're neighborhood crime watch. MR. McCLELLAN: Hang on. Hang on. That's a different matter. People cannot take things into their own hands. But if they see suspicious activity, they should report that suspicious activity to the proper authorities and -- Q And that doesn't make them vigilantes, does it? MR. McCLELLAN: Well, if you're talking about a group of armed, untrained individuals roaming around the desert, that would be something that would concern us and it would increase the chance that someone could get hurt. And we don't want people operating outside the law -- the President made that very clear last week. So if you're talking about people reporting suspicious activity, that's one thing. If you're talking about people operating outside the law, that's another matter and it's one that cannot be allowed to happen. He WAS talking about the Minutemen. Look it folks. It's history, it's never been denied, it's even been affirmed in this briefing...

Don't get me wrong I am a Bush supporter in many areas.

If the 2008 election came down between Traitor John Kerry and George Bush I would happily place an X next to GWB.

I just happen to disagree strongly with any sort of amnesty program proposed by McCaniac and Murdering Teddy Boy Kennedy.

As for Hernandez I doubt he has picked any beans in his life time.

He is just a face for the Mexicans.

One has to wonder just how much aid and comfort the Mexican government is giving to the various radical groups that have formed in the last few years here in America.

Some of these groups and their spokes people are becoming bolder and bolder as time passes.

We are hearing rhetoric that is not good in a free society such as ours.

When ever heads of groups openly call for the extermination of citizens based on skin color that is racism and a hate crime (something we would expect to see in Africa).

So why isn't our law enforcement doing anything about these radical and soon to be terrorists?

I still support the President, but the Reps (especially the Senate) need to wake up quick. The elections are less than 6 months away. I will vote a straight Rep ticket. Our leaders just need to be made aware (don't know if they'll change, but at least they'll have the option).
