"Yet all this is forgotten in the Illegal Insanity sweeping FR."

Classic misdirection. Don't forget, the likes of Bill O'Reilly never supported the WOT, though he might have claimed to whenever he felt it would keep his ratings level.

Though immigration is a real, ongoing problem which has been with us for decades, I find this sudden, strident, venomous interest in it from people who never made a peep during the eight years of the Clinton administration suspicious...especially since they claim to stand so strongly on principle. It looks agenda driven to an old, ulcer-ridden analyst like me.

It's like the "No Framable, Official Declaration of War!! Complete With Fancy Curlycues Around the Edges so It's an ILLEGAL POLICE ACTION" threads, which the Democrats shortened to "illegal war" rhetoric.

This thread, though mostly a stellar example of how people from opposind factions of the same side can attempt to make their points civilly has degenerated a bit in the past hundred or so posts.

It's pretty simple, actually. There is actual legislation on the table and Bush is pushing the Senate version over the House. Things tend to get quite a bit more heated when it goes from rhetoric to legislation. No conspiracy required.

I recall huge numbers of threads on illegals and the dangers of it back during the Clinton years here at FR. Given that you joined in Novemember 2000, maybe you weren't here or participating fully. Then, unlike today, we had no one advocating open-borders. Pretty unanimous against open-borders, not so unanimous on NAFTA issues.
