AP: "Too Close to Call"

NEW ORLEANS — Voters were deciding Saturday whether incumbent Mayor Ray Nagin or challenger Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu should oversee this city's long recovery from Hurricane Katrina — one of the largest reconstruction projects in U.S. history.

Whoever wins the too-close-to-call election takes office a day before the June 1 start of the next hurricane season in a city where streets are still strewn with rusting, mud-covered cars and entire neighborhoods consist of homes that are empty shells.

Who knows? It certainly doesn't match up with WWL or WDSU numbers.

Could it possibly be that "Black" & "White" voters are finally beginning to think for themselves in Louisana? If so, then wonders of wonders there is hope for the future.

They're basing it on some sort of model that's "never been wrong" (their terminology).

Not surprising, considering the choices they had.

Well, I mean this is an interesting Race. Mitch has bit a good bit of black support and Nagin has white support. I mean this has been an interesting one to watch because this race is a tad difficult one to poll

"Fox 8 is showing Nagin up 54%-45% with 59% of the precincts in: Nagin 25,119 Landrieu 21,369"

somebody's screwed up .. the WWLTV news shows at 56% it's 52 Landrieu to 48% Nagin with 25,042 and 24,253 votes. If it weren't New Orleans, I'd wonder how there are more votes with 56% than at 59%

Did they toss out 6000 votes between 55 and 59 percent of the precincts reporting?

Is that a rhetorical question? This is La. after all, even our dead vote....twice!!!

WDSU and ABC 26 are now in line with FOX 8, in terms of showing Nagin with a slight lead. WWL still has Landrieu leading.

Well, that's even weirder. The Nagin vote matches the WWL vote, but the Landreiu vote doesn't. On top of it, the difference is the same as it's been more or less all evening, 1500 to 1800 votes, but it's on the other side in the official numbers. Don't you getting the feeling a bunch of elections workers are sitting around saying "one for me, and one for you"?

For instance during the primary the black middle class were though to be leaning to Forman. IF that had happen we many not have had Landrieu in this race
