One in 20 Americans may be susceptible to repeated, uncontrollable anger attacks in which they lash out in road rage, spousal abuse or other unjustifiably violent actions,

Make that 19 out of 20 Liberals...

I have had a pretty "colorful" temper in the past.

I love how you worded this! LOL

You'd think they could at least have come up with a name that doesn't abbreviate as "IED".

The term pre-dated the liberation of Iraq.

Humans with lesions to the orbital/medial prefrontal cortex and interconnected areas display impulsive aggressive behavior. To examine further the relationship between impulsive aggression and orbital/medial prefrontal dysfunction, we measured the behavioral performance of psychiatric patients with a disorder characterized by impulsive aggression, Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED).

One in 20 Americans may be susceptible to repeated, uncontrollable anger attacks in which they lash out in road rage, spousal abuse or other unjustifiably violent actions, researchers from Harvard and the University of Chicago have found.

Let me fix this. What this really says is...

Researchers from Harvard and the University of Chicago have excused one in twenty Americans from personal responsibility.

Pharmaceutical profits are sure to skyrocket.

I would wager that a large portion comes from poor home training/parenting.

I hate wide brushes. IED is also an extreme side effect of bipolar disorder, which is a proven chemical imbalance. My daughter was diagnosed with bipolar disorder with IED well over 10 years ago. She was abusing us, but we got accused of abusing her for trying to restrain her when she got violent, even though we called the police and filed police reports every single time. We had her in therapy and on medication since she was seven and institutionalized several times as she had threatened to kill us. Despite our evidence and the $36,000 in psychiatric hospital bills we showed them just for the previous 6 months, the state took custody of her and she was institutionalized by them until she was 18 and she did the same thing to them, which proved our point that she was totally uncontrollable. There were 5 other cases just like ours in our mainly rural county at the time. Then the state just literally kicked her out on the streets when she turned 18. She ended up in prison on drug charges in one county, and is currently on probation for burglarizing my house for drug money in my county. She's on medication, living with her boyfriend, working a full time job and doing much better now, but we are still overly cautious about security at our house...just in case.

OUCH! My eyes hurt! Deanie forgot to take his 'chill' pill. He always forget. Could this be because of his thinking disorder as well? He is just one big walking disorder.

Thanks for that link. I always suspected my daughter had suffered some type of brain damage from her father knocking me down the stairs when I was pregnant with her (see #67 for the story). That is why he is an ex-husband, he wanted me to have an abortion, I refused and he never saw her after she was born. She tried to find him when she turned 18, but he was dead by then.

Uh-huh. IED is nothing that a swift K in the A can't fix.

If you put a name to it, you don't have to take responsibility for your misbehaviors.

And the shrinks can make a bundle treating this 'disorder' and then there will be a pill for it, as well as the lawyers will use it as a defense.

Manners and common sense are lacking and yes, self control.

I'll bet the drug companies will be pushing a prescription medication for this next week.

I feel pretty,
Oh, so pretty,
I feel pretty and witty and bright!
And I pity
Any girl who isn't me tonight.

I feel charming,
Oh, so charming
It's alarming how charming I feel!
And so pretty
That I hardly can believe I'm real.

See the pretty girl in that mirror there:
Who can that attractive girl be?
Such a pretty face,
Such a pretty dress,
Such a pretty smile,
Such a pretty me!

I feel stunning
And entrancing,
Feel like running and dancing for joy,
For I'm loved
By a pretty wonderful boy!
