Very important if true, but source is not always reliable.

One British publication said that it was only a "missile," and another said that it was "four missiles."

...can't help but wonder how the British publications might have known that, because all previous reports said that the weapon was a "drone."

This certainly makes more sense then the original "drone" story, but the Israeli ship shown was a fairly small gunboat. If the Silkworm didn't sink it outright then perhaps the destructiveness of the Silkworm has been oversold.

I tend to think at least its true Hezbollah has advanced weapons. What kind has even Israeli military commanders in the dark. The Hezbullies probably have still more surprises in store.

If Debka is correct about Silkworm C-802s supplied by Iran, I would compare this, tactically speaking, to Argentina's surprise sinking of HMS Sheffield using French-built Exocets in the Falklands in 1982.

It would be a shame if one of those Hizballah missiles went astray and took out the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

A Sa'ar V could easily survive the impact of a 100kg drone traveling at 200 knots . However the a 165kg warhead traveling at mach .9 is another matter. A 1,200 ton ship would not survive that.

FOX is reporting at least 100 Iranian personnel on the ground in Lebanon to assist Hizballah. The missile was manufactured in Iran using a Chinese design and takes some technical knowhow to fire.

IF TRUE-
This silkworm attack is also a message from Iran that it will use silkworms against oil tankers if it's nukes are bombed to smithereens

Hmm, didn't CNN announce a few minutes ago that Israel's northern command was hit by rocket fire? No word about casualties.

Western credibility is shattered when we claim that state sponsors of terrorism will be held responsible, then we run away from confrontations with Iran and Syria.

Either s***, or get off the pot.

A caller to Michael Savage said the missile that hit the Israeli warship was not guided but simply fired, like an artillery shell. That way the sophisticated missile defenses couldn't deal with it.

It way be that the caller had the wrong missile, though, if this report is true. This report says it skimmed the water like a cruise missile. That doesn't sound like a fired projectile.

http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/105/house/1/votes/592/

The link above, is from the WP database with all the votes from almost every Congresss, showing what the Bill was, what Congress, how the votes went, the yeas and nays, and how each Congresscritter voted.

The above link was from the 105th Congress, 1st session,(11/06/97). The Bill was H RES 188. It concerned: Acquisition by Iran of C-802 Cruise Missiles, with the title: Urging the executive branch to take action regarding the acquisition by Iran of C-802 cruise missiles.

The votes were 414 yea, 8 nay, 11 not voting. You can click on anything "blue", and it will show you a more in depth description, ( IMHO a GOOD BOOKMARK OVERALL).

Check out who one of the 7 Dems were, that voted NAY to have the Clinton Administration take action against Iran having these C-802 missiles (bought from China)......

....ole Mr.Redeploy himself !! (...maybe that's why he wants our troops in Okinawa, so those C-802's he thinks were OK for Iran to have don't hit ONE OF OUR SHIPS or TROOPS !!)

OBTW, What DID the Crinton Administration do about this 414 to 8 vote concernong these C-802's that Iran purchased ??....

They sent a letter through a third party to give to the Iranians to "have some talks sometime".....

...in other words, NOTHING, like the rest of Crintons GREAT foreign policy decisions....

I think this article is BS. No way they could hide that thing in Lebanon. Debka is on crack. The drone story is infinitely more plausable since we know they have them.

Excerpt:

The ship is currently being towed back to Israeli territorial waters.

A senior IDF officer said the ship was struck by an Iranian-made C802 missile, but he refused to say whether or not Iranian activists were behind the launching itself.

The army said two C802 missiles were fired at the vessel; the first missed the ship and struck an Egyptian boat some 60 kilometers (37 miles) off the Lebanon coast.

The stern of the ship was hit shortly after 8:30 p.m. Friday night and a conflagration ignited on the helicopter landing pad. The hit also damaged the ship’s internal operating systems.

Is there any military reason for allowing the Hiz-TV to still be broadcasting?
