CNN Doesn't Recognize Nazareth as "Holy City"
Posted on 07/19/2006 9:13:01 AM PDT by auzerais
Anyone notice this morning that while both FoxNews and even MSNBC are refering to the attacks on Nazareth as on the "Holy City of Nazareth", CNN Does NOT?! Coincidence? I don't think so. For years every so-called islamic 'holy city' in Iraq and Iran have been referenced as such to soothe islamic sensibilities, but when it comes to a Christian Holy City, Nazareth the home of Jesus Christ, CNN, led by Christian-hater Ted Turner, omits such reference. Isn't it time CNN heard from Christians all over the world protesting their pro-islamic anti-Christian bias????

Are we looking for things to be pissed at? I mean come on why are you watching CNN for anyway?

Agreed that the rule ought to apply to all uses of terms that might imply an arbitrary religious significance to places or locations...not for their ability to "incite public reactions" but because it is an arbitrary ,whimsical and capricious practice to do so and, as such, it is inherently an unfair practice.

Did any of the news media mention that Safed and Tiberias are also "holy cities"?

This is one of those "whatever is your choice" things. I don't consider ANY city in the whole world to be particularly "holy", but if you insist and I'm in a conversation with you, I might make such a reference just to keep you unsuspecting and happy.
BTW, Moslems tend to be very much motivated to commit idolotry when it comes to "holy places" ~ they actually worship them. Guess it's some sort of compromise early pagans must have made when Islam arrived. Totally bizarre stuff ~ did you see their ceremonial handwashing exercises yet? Off ~ The ~ Wall Fur Shur!

Sure, you get it ~ some people don't think there's anything meaningful in designating things "holy" or "sacred". Others lead their lives trying to maneuver around and in between all the "holy" and "sacred" bricabrac in their way.
It's a "choice" sort of thing, but really not the kind you need to impose on other folks (although Moslems will kill you for not respecting their belief about various "things").

FYI:
Nazareth is not a fun place to visit.
It is nearly 100% Arab with the exception of a few Christian churches.
You couldn't pay me enough money right now to visit it.

LOL! Tucker Carlson (over on MSNBC) identified Nazareth as
Jesus' birthplace!
Guess he never sang "Little Town of Bethlehem".
(Otherwise I like Tucker's show; quick moving look at the events of
the day, with a touch of humor)

To those who are truly interested in accuracy, and contrary to the Catholic and Greek Orthodox PC, the modern city of Nazareth is NOT the Nazareth of the "New Testament." Catherine (Constantine's mother), chose the site in the Fourth Century because it was at a cross roads. No archaelogy, nor historical bases was made for the choice. As in many things Byzantine... it was what was most convenient for pilgrims - accuracy did not matter.
The true Nazareth is likely about 4 or 5 miles north of the tourist trap.

Not only Tucker Carlson (whom I seldom watch) but Mike Jerrick on FNC's Dayside this morning also called Nazareth the birthplace of Jesus. I emailed him (hopefully along with dozens of others) chastizing him for his error. But atleast several people today, even on CNN, mentioned that Nazareth was the location of the Annunciation to Mary of Christ's future birth by the angel Gabriel.

CNN Doesn't Recognize Nazareth as "Holy City" I believe the standard for CNN that makes a city Holy is when there is at least a certain level of gay sex in public bathrooms and parks.

What else do you expect from the anti-Christian, anti-Israel, anti-American Commie News Network? Bible prophecy doesn't even occur to most of the socialist left. In fact, they mock and ridicule it and anyone that believes in it.
I just keep looking at the map of Nazareth on EyeOnIsrael.com and noticing how close it is to the Valley of Armagedon...it's just a few miles to the southwest. It's kinda scary to think how we are witnessing history and bible prophecy unfolding before our very eyes.
I also noticed the Nazareth webcam, which was up last nite, is now down after the rocket strike, and they posted a message to the effect that: "A HIZBALA missile damaged our camera this night our technicians will reinstall a new site system." I'm still waiting for them to get the new one up, but so far...nothing.
