CNN Doesn't Recognize Nazareth as "Holy City"

Posted on 07/19/2006 9:13:01 AM PDT by auzerais

Anyone notice this morning that while both FoxNews and even MSNBC are refering to the attacks on Nazareth as on the "Holy City of Nazareth", CNN Does NOT?! Coincidence? I don't think so. For years every so-called islamic 'holy city' in Iraq and Iran have been referenced as such to soothe islamic sensibilities, but when it comes to a Christian Holy City, Nazareth the home of Jesus Christ, CNN, led by Christian-hater Ted Turner, omits such reference. Isn't it time CNN heard from Christians all over the world protesting their pro-islamic anti-Christian bias????

Now this is admitted a flawed sample, (holy city does not necessarily appear next to the city in question) but it still is a good start...

On the other hand, I was just THRILLED the other day to hear FNC's Jennifer Griffin refer to a site as the place where "Jesus performed miracles". She didn't say "where it is believed" that He performed them, or that "it is said" that that's where, but she came right out and said "where Jesus performed miracles".

It was just such a wonderful change from the way most of the media refers to Him and His works. Go Jennifer!

Time Magazine has had a reporter embedded with Saddam's troops (he was with them when Saddam was captured) and that same reporter communicates with Al Qaeda.

PBS did a Frontline episode on The Insurgency (and it can be viewed online). This reporter was heavily consulted onscreen during that.

I heard her say that, too, and it really struck me. I appreciated it.

Jennifer Grifin and Amy Kellogg are the best. They have paid their dues in filing directly from the Middle East with comprehensive and accurate reporting.

Christiane Amanpour on the other hand....hmmmm.

BTW Martin Fletcher (MSNBC?) seems to be very balanced so far in his reporting.

Communists are atheists, so how could CNN be different?

No one should be required to mouth prescribed adjectives to describe geographic places like Nazareth.
It really ought to be optional and never required...lest we fall into dogma and enforced worship.

As dreadful and callous as the MSM can be, we have no corresponding authority to force them to observe our biased and preferential descriptive terms and applelations.

Freedom of choice applies to speech as it surely does for religious preference.

Fair enough. That standard should be applied across the board. Instead, it is used when muslim "holy sites" are involved because it incites people.

Here's a prime example from cnn needlessly plugging a mooselimb so-called 'holy city'.

Saudis indirectly castigate Hezbollah, calling tactics reckless, irresponsible

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe/07/14/friday/index.html

(CNN) -- Saudi Arabia weighed in on the Lebanon crisis with an indirect shot at Hezbollah, saying it differentiates between "legitimate resistance" and "reckless adventures."

The kingdom -- the site of Mecca, the holiest Muslim city -- is highly influential across the Muslim world, and the remarks reported by the state-run Saudi Press Agency, which quotes an official source, described as "irresponsible" the Iranian-backed Lebanese group's action.

"Saudi Arabia would like to make it clear that there is a difference between legitimate resistance and reckless adventures which are being undertaken by some Lebanese without going back to the authority of the country itself, or cooperating with any other country. This action makes the situation in the whole region dangerous," the statement said. (Posted 1:53 p.m.)

CNN is a repackaging outlet.

Their videos are dumbed down to the lowest common denominator for their global customers.

by keeping CNN stories "stupid" they can send teh same video and comentary to all the various CNN brands.

CNN is not an american news service. In fact, CNN could disappear and the leftist BBC could do the same job without skipping a beat.
