Unborn Child a Parasite, a Tapeworm: Columnist
LifeSiteNews ^ | Hilary White and John Jalsevac

ANN ARBOR, August 2, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – In a July 26 column that reads almost like a parody of the slogans of the abortion movement, a sophomore at Michigan State University has declared that the unborn child is a parasite, similar to a tapeworm that should be "annihilated."

Writing for The State News, the campus paper of Michigan State University, one of the largest univerities in the U.S., Shane Krouse writes, "The fetus is merely a wad of cells. A mere wad of cells doesn't equate to a fully functioning, living human being. A wad of cells cannot make its own cognitive decisions… Comparatively, a fetus is little more than a tapeworm. It is quite common for humans to annihilate parasites with medications or toxins, so why not allow for fetuses to suffer the same fate?"

Krouse asks rhetorically, "How can you kill something that is not yet living?" He answers his own question saying that the child after birth is "alive" because it no longer receives nutrients and oxygen through the umbilical cord from the mother. He does not clarify how a thing that processes nutrients and oxygen, grows, moves independently and replicates its own cells – the usual criteria for living things established by the biological sciences – can be not alive in the womb but suddenly alive at the moment of birth.

Nick Mrozowski, the editor for The State News, told LifeSiteNews.com that Krouse's piece does not necessarily reflect the opinion of the newspaper itself. "When we publish a columnist it is their view," he said. "We routinely publish columns that the paper does or does not agree with."

"[Krouse] has reinvigorated a debate in our community that is important. A debate is good."

Mrozowski said that the reponse to Krouse's inflammatory language has been a mere handful of letters, some opposed and some in favor.

One woman wrote to the State News to say that she agreed with Shane Krouse that the unborn child is a parasite that may be killed with impunity.

Clementine Ford of Adelaide, Australia wrote in response that because the "reasoning for abortion is
personal…there can be no definable ‘valid’ reason for having one."

"Personally, I aborted my parasite because of failed contraception and a fervent desire not to breed right now. I feel no guilt for my actions."

Non artes, non scientia, non veritas. - Today's University of Michigan.

Wrong U! I don't know why the article is from Ann Arbor, but it is about Michigan State. But wait, it gets even sillier! Guess what the motto for the State U and their press office is?

"Advancing Knowledge, Transforming Lives."

So they are advancing knowledge by incorrectly claiming that a fetus is not a life-form, and they are transforming lives as in calling humans tapeworms whose life can be cold-bloodedly terminated!

Sickening!

Holy crap. I'm glad that person was not in front of me when she said that, because I consider her a parasite to society.

Guess that means I can kill her.

"Wrong U! I don't know why the article is from Ann Arbor, but it is about Michigan State."

Good catch there! As a UM grad, we like to distinguish ourselves as much as possible from MSU.

Perhaps this young man's motivation is to be a politically 'incorrect' as possible, and he succeeded in doing that, at least.

You got it right. What these people don't seem to understand is that when humans usurp the power to define who is or is not human life becomes the victim of whim. Any and every political/philosophical fad becomes the measuring rod of everyone's humanity and if you don't fit the metrics you wind up with a yellow star on your coat or in the gulag or on the auction block or in the gas chamber. Or you could wind up with a lethal injection administered by a PC doctor "just doing his job" by ensuring the current regime's standards for "quality of life" and "dignity" are not being violated.

Actually, they are good democrat party drones. The democraps like Boxer, Harkin, Schumer, Kennedy, clinton, and Mikulski must be proud of their achievement in dehumanizing the alive unborn children. They do all their mischief for the chidren don'tchaknow. [I purposely left off Lautenberg because I think he's too senile to actually be a factor any more. Space on FR doesn't permit the listing of all the democrap House members in this heinous cult of death.

Rape would be a reminder to the mother of the despicable horrible person who did that to her every day, and as the child ages, has the potential to look like her rapist. Why wouldn't these states make these exceptions?

Let me answer your question with a question: Is the potential to look like your rapist a death penalty offense? Because that's what abortion is.

Rape and incest are crimes. Go after the perpetrator, and don't make the innocent by-product pay the price.

(With that being said, I'd agree to laws that allow rape & incest abortions, if the pregnant woman filed formal charges against the supposed perp. I'd also offer state assistance to help her if she decided to keep her pregnancy. I

As ugly as rape-and-incest allowances for abortion are, I'd be for such waivers if for no other reason than they are a step up from the morass we find ourselves in : sex-selection abortions, partial-birth abortions, you name it....)

doesn't that also kind of negate the whole "It's my body" argument. Now they are admitting that's its not part of their own body, but that it's still allright to kill it? These eople can justify pretty much anything to themelves.

Whether God loves him is for God to know. God will punish all sin, and be glorified in the final condemnation and eternal punishment (I believe) of His enemies - just as He will be glorified (I believe) in saving His people from their sins. Whether this young gestappo later repents of his advocated genocide is for God to know.

Sorry, your post really struck me.
