See my post #13
These are the images that the conspiracy theorists don't want you to know about.
The wheels and tires, engines, fuselage parts, and all the damage that was caused by the plane before it hit the pentagon.

FYI - that picture w/ the taxi...
that taxi driver's statement is what a lot of conspiracy theorists use as "proof" He made the statement that he did not see the plane hit. The reason (and next part of the statement, conveniently left off by the conspiracy nuts) is that the reason he didn't see it was because a piece of the plane (or light?) hit and smashed his windshield. (as you can see in the picture)

OK, so if a 757 did not hit the Pentagon, what happened to the plane and all the people on board? Maybe they went to Disneyland?
Everyone else is right: asking a completely logical and sane question to a group of people that are completely the opposite, well, is pointless.
Especially considering that beloved FREEPER Barbara Olson was on that fated flight, I don't think that Ted Olson, former Solicitor General and a good and upstanding man, would take his wife being hauled off to Gitmo or summarily executed (which is the other kook contention) silently.
9/11 is a lot more simple than most of these morons want to believe.
- We got sloppy over the years.
- We didn't have any human intelligence one the inside of a growing threat (radical Islamic groups)
- The attackers used the openness of our country against us
- In the confusion and despite our best efforts, our military wasn't able to react fast enough (Please note, I'm not speaking ill of our forces, just stated how, unfortunately, things went down)
The result: a tragedy that this country should never forget, though, sadly, it sometimes feels like we alread have.

"With both towers now in flames, Nasypany wants the fighters over Manhattan immediately, but the weapons techs get "pushback" from civilian F.A.A. controllers, who have final authority over the fighters as long as they are in civilian airspace."Isnt this like a responding firetruck waiting for the town zoning board to decide if its OK to violate posted parking?
If this is true, someone needs to sit down and do a major rewrite...

simple ... there was no plane, therefore no people on board. All the grieving relatives of the passengers are actors and the people who were supposedly the passengers are either hiding or have changed their names and moved overseas.

These conspiracy theorists are blatant in their lies and think people are just to stupid to see through their deceit.
When I was a kid I was always told that 'insanity' is not contagious.
I guess the people telling me were wrong!

and what hit the pentagon That conspiracy crap is for losers who weren't there and didn't have the plane fly feet over their heads and slam into the Pentagon right in front of your eyes and kill your friends. Anyone who believes anything different is a fool or a liar.

PEOPLE....the coverup alleged by VF is NOT that the incident did not happen...but that the military was covering up its inept a$$. Listening to the tapes all you hear is confusion and them trying to cut through red tape. Really amazing stuff, and the reality that it could have been much worse (for instance, the recognition that there were only 14 planes on duty that day...all on the coasts...so if United 93 had gone to Chicago instead of D.C. there was little they could do...or the fact that they could not find any of the planes on radar with the transponders off).
Chilling stuff.

I don't believe there is a fighter wing at McGuire. Looks like there is a mobility (aka transport) wing and a refueling wing.
On a broader note, I always have to wonder what people think the USAF was going to do even if the fighters DID get there in time on 9/11.
Their choices were:
a. shoot the planes down
b. shoot the planes down
Was anybody at 9:00 AM EST on Sept, 11, 2001 ready to accept civilian planes being shot down by an F15?

...the NORAD folks just couldn't seem to grasp that this was NOT a "drill"...I read somewhere that NORAD was, in fact, having hijacking drills that very morning. I'll try to remember where I read that.
Some conspiracy types were saying that the drills that morning were part of the setup in order to delay any quick reaction by any air defense units.

Actually, that is incorrect. The first military jets in the air were unarmed. Thus, their choice was --
a. nudge the plane down or
b. ram it.
What a choice for those brave young men in the pilots' seats -- ram a plane with several dozen innocent passengers or allow that plane to ram into another building filled with innocent people.

Those who subscribe to conspiracy theories do so only because they lack the ability to remember or process facts. Believing in a conspiracy theory allows one to create their own reality as they go alone, thus insuring they are never wrong.

Thanks for the correction.
And wasn't one of those first planes a trainer? Somehow I don't think it would have much success ramming a 747. Probably would have killed the AF pilot and crew though.
I don't think we ask our pilots to go on suicide missions - then or now.
Even now, I don't get the sense that people understand that, if another plane is hijacked, the response will be to shoot it down. And, no doubt, there will be holy hell about it in the press.
This is something that really gets under my skin. My father spent 4 years in the Navy and 20 years in the Air Force and, as the proud daughter of a retired MSgt, I get very touchy when the military gets dumped on.

Think about it - prior top Sept 11, the USAF and never flown 'inside' US airapsce except to chase UFOs...
We keep a couple to 4 F-15s 'hot' here at Elmendorf for air defense, but then for a long time we had Bear and Bison problems.....
last scramble was for a China Air cargo plane reported as "off-course". Nothing like the sight of a missile laden F-15 off of you wingtip to improve navigation.
No more Pearl Harbors, No more Sept 11 - we must stay vigilant.

We can also thank Clinton for cutbacks in military spending. /sarc
Otherwise, they might have had better equipment to track these planes, alert them faster and react better/faster.
