PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President and Mrs. Bush are spending the weekend at Camp David. Look for the First Lady to be on the campaign trail a lot in the next few months. Republican National Committee spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt said that Mrs. Bush is a significant draw wherever she goes, and is a critical asset to Republican candidates across the country. According to the RNC, so far this campaign season, the First Lady has appeared at 24 political events and raised $10.7 million for the party and Republican candidates. Last week, she campaigned in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.
THE WEEK AHEAD: Next week's daily scheduled was not announced by White House Press Secretary Tony Snow. However, next week the President will visit his family home in Kennebunkport, Maine, for the first time in two years. GWB and the First Lady are scheduled to arrive Thursday at Walker's Point, where they will be spending the weekend with GWB's parents at their summer retreat. The first couple will be in town to attend a relative's wedding, said Tom Frechette, spokesman for the president's father. While at Walker's Point, the President typically goes fishing and golfing.
EXTENDED SCHEDULE:
_ Sept. 7, First Lady Laura Bush will visit Norfolk to attend a campaign rally for U.S. Rep. Thelma Drake._ Sept. 14, President Bush will welcome President Roh Moo-hyun of the Republic of Korea to the White House.
_ Oct. 10, President Bush will welcome President Alan Garcia of Peru to the White House.

RE: The media . . . I saw an article in the paper today that gas prices are the lowest since APRIL . . . why wasn't THAT the top story? It is when the price goes up, and it's allGWB'sfault of course . . .
Good question. Thanks for telling me, because even I, an inveterate news hound, didn't hear that news. But, of course, the MSM is not biased to the Left. Ummmmhummm...no way. Not at all. [/sarc]
I saved that one because Dubya stood out in the blue shirt and had his characteristic sunny smile that I love so much.
If you like photos of Dubya interacting with the troops, there's a beautiful photo of him running like an excited boy to greet a group of troops. I forgot to save it, but it wasn't posted long ago. Maybe if you ask around, someone will post it again.
