If they're Taliban, they can't see the hole in the bottom of the craft near the center........

how many people on the planet you reckon could set the (back) end of a chopper down on the roof top of a shack on a steep mountain cliff and hold it thereYou left out the "huge honkin'" before the word "chopper" in that description there, Butch.

CH-46, Sea Knight, is somewhat smaller than the Chinook as well.Is that the real nickname? Back when I was in the Army, we called them "S***-hooks."

Would they try such a risky maneuver to load Taliban prisoners? Why not find a safer place to load them? Don't know, maybe the "detainees" buddies were beating feat up the hillside, but not yet within mortar or small arms range?
I was going on observation of the photo, and a dimly recalled caption.

Your sense of humor comes up a little short.
To: Uncledave
Apparently the maneuver is not all that unusual. They even a name for it.
Pinnacle_Landings The photo above is included at the link, along with other such "landings", and it states they are picking up "suspects during Operation Mountain Resolve, approximately November 2003."

Igor Sikorsky bump. Another immigrant American benefactor of mankind.
And before you purists run me over, I know it's probably not a Sikorsky, and I know the difference between a Chinook and a Skycrane.
But he was the pioneer.
