All four candidates, one GOP, one Dem and two Indys will be holding the only debate for Texas Governor tonight at 7:00 p.m. Central time.

Gee, I wonder whose influence had this debate scheduled during Friday night football?

I still say that Chris Bell is the real racist.

Get him to TALK about the race of these people who drop out of school. Get him to TALK about the race of the Katrina evacuees who have not found work or an apartment in a year's time.

He sees them as demographics, not as people. Get him to talk about the guy who is sitting in his Congressional seat that he was so proud to mention. He blames Tom DeLay when in reality his lost his seat to a Dem in the primary. He wasn't the better candidate.

The previous Dem candidate for governor (Sanchez) has endorsed another candidate other than Bell. That speaks volumes.

If one is "low" in the opinion polls, he is excluded from debates, as with Buchanan and Nader in 2000.

You are right, people believe what they want to believe, and they refuse to hear the facts. They don't like to be corrected; the syndrome goes all the way back to grade school.

Actually we do have a term limit. When we get tired of them, we vote them out.

I've never laughed so hard during a political debate. Perry won hands down, and Kinky was the hilarious loser.
Strayhorn and Bell may have tied.

That's my take on it too.

A vote for Kinky is a vote of lack of confidence in Perry. The state GOP needs to be responsive.

Painting Kinky as a racist is a good tactic for keeping Dems on the plantation. But what will keep them for voting for Grandma?

Chris Bell did his best to paint the other three as "Republicans" but who is the conservative candidate in this race? He just wants to shame Dems from voting for someone else.

The old law that Roe declared unConstitutional is still on the books.

Misdemeanor for small amounts as opposed to a felony. Fine as opposed to jail.

And is Kinky and Willie going to install that all by themselves? WoW, when did the Texas governor get that much power? You know that's a bs "promise" - will never make it to the governor's desk.

Did you see ol' Kinky trying to quote Reagan? He may have got the words out, but the spirit wasn't there, was it?

Perry was an embarrassment, but he did not make a gaffe per se; so I assume he survived the "debate." He is just not inspiring, but neither are his rivals!

And, yes, GWB in 1998 also staged his only debate with the liberal Garry Mauro during Friday night football.

Well, good.

Tony Sanchez has invited me to go hunting at his ranch in a couple months. It will be after the election, but I really do enjoy talking to him.

I wonder who he endorsed. He's basically a Republican but a yellow dog Democrat. But he blew $12 million of his own money running against Perry in 2002.

No way did he endorse Kinky. Tony is sane. Who did he endorse?

I want to watch the Texas debate if it ever comes on Directv in the next few days. I can't receive any local broadcast channels here in this small west Texas town. Not that I would watch them if I could because I haven't allowed the alphabet channels in my home since 1984.

How is he qualified? Has he *been* governor of Texas before? Is he a non-Dem? How many exes does he have in Texas?

Most of all, what was the name of his band?

"Eaker and the FReepers"?

Wasn't it Grandma that did not know that unemployment comp. checks run for no more than 26 weeks, and I believe that she signs all checks paid by the state of TX! She also couldn't remember Calderon's name in MX.

There is no term limit for any STATE elected official in TX. And no recall provision either
