No, he is encouraging them to boycott Costco for being anti-gun. You keep ignoring much of what this guy said as you weave your poorly-constructed strawman arguments here.
Try making a point and I'll answer it. All you have presented is strawmen.
You can think it's wrong, that doesn't make it wrong. In Costco's eyes it a correct policy. And their opinion is really the only one that matters.
You seem to forget that they have millions of customers with opinions as well. And Costco may have a right to dictate terms for their own property, but citizens in turn have the right to withhold business over those terms. And to encourage others to do the same.
Or perhaps, if we follow your logic, the Dixie Chicks were right to believe no one should have boycotted them for their political views. After all, they were well within their rights for voicing such. And fans who disagreed should just shut up and buy their CDs anyway.
From Wiki:
It should be noted that many of the patrons, such as Suzanna Hupp, had firearms in their vehicles but by law were not allowed to carry them on their person. Survivors and family of the victims, with the help of the media, were successful in moving lawmakers to consider the concept of conceal carry permits for citizens. As a direct result of this massacre, in 1995 Texas lawmakers, led by Suzanna Gratia Hupp (whose parents were both killed in the massacre), passed a law that allowed Texas citizens to obtain a concealed carry handgun permit in part as a reaction against the massacre. Soon after many states considered similar weapon permits for lawful citizens.
Too bad it takes an event like that to let citizens carry their weapons. The data still proves CCW states have less violent crime of this type even though the lefties try to bake it other ways.
From the article:
It was cool outside, so I was wearing a heavy flannel shirt over my polo shirt and shoulder holster. I was carrying my usual Para-Ordnance P-14, with a stainless finish. As we came in I flashed the membership card to the greeter, and paused to take off my flannel shirt. We spent about 35 minutes in the store, going all the way through, down most of the aisles. No one said anything.
Now if someone can tell me where it's legal in Minnisota, a state that worked so hard to pass a CCW, to carry in the open, I would appreciate it.
The second admendment and the basic right of self-defense are worth defending unless you are a conservative slave.
By the way,a conservative is defined as someone who wants to leave things sas they are;I thimk reactionary might better describe those of us who wish a return to personal responsibility.
BY the way in your view should the owner of a business open to the general public be able to ban:gays?Catholics?,black people?,Muslims?,handicapped?,old?female?male?smokers?,chewers?unattractive people?,liberals?,conservatives?
Point out where he did that.
Why do I get the vision of Travis Bickle standing in front of a mirror mumbling over and over again "Are you talking to me" when I read this hmmm
Probably because you were looking for something to be upset about.
That doesn't make any sense to me. My position is that Costco has every right to ban weapons (or smoking) in their stores, it's their private property. Shoppers who disagree have every right to not shop there, and to make it known to others why.
Maybe you got Sir Francis viewpoint confused with mine.
Really. I guess the black people should not have boycotted all those stores where they were not wanted. The right to keep and bear arms is a constitutional right. Granted the private business at this time can ban me as a customer if I legally carry but I can also boycott them. It is the Amercian way... Who needs Costco. Go to Wal Mart instead when I am welcome with my firearm....
Wal- Mart does not ban concealed carry. Get used to it.. Neither does most stores. I go there all the time carrying also to Home Depot and all the grocery stores in my area. Only place I know that bans is a privately owned liberal resturant Called the Black Eyed Pea. So they do not get my business.
Wrong and legal are not the same thing. Good Grief.
Tried site and phone number - neither has provision for feedback.
The BEST feedback is to take your costco card, cut in up, put it in an envelope, enclose a brief letter as to why you will no longer use their services and send it off to their headquarters.
Like most mercenrary b@$t@rds, they respond best when kicked in the pocketbook.
Yes and no. Their store is quasi-public, so they might ban someone but the State or Feds could step in and override.
There is always people who will see their souls and principle for money. Just like they sell their Freedom for a SS check or Medicare Check or Medicaid check. Some people refuse to do so.. Just shows where your principles come from, if you have any, and what they are worth to you. Apparently saving on a grocery bill in worth alot to some.
OK, that's your business and none of mine. OTOH, I happen to care if even a very small portion of my household budget goes to support traitorous Democrat candidates and anti-2nd Amendment organizations such as Sarah Brady's and the many others that are coming out of their rat holes again now that a Democrat controlled Congress appears to be a probability for the next 2 years. Costco's leftist management gives 99% of it's political donations to Democrats who support unconstitutional bans on firearms and many other infringements of my rights, not to mention abject capitulation to Islamic terrorism. I won't knowingly allow one red cent of my hard earned money go to support that agenda.
Anyway, I have seen first hand how few real savings are available at those membership discount barns and it isn't worth it to me. I don't shop at Sams or BJ's now either because they aren't any better on real, actual savings than Costco. But if saving a few nickel's here and there on Cokes and cough drops is that important to you go for it, it's your money.
What gripes me too is when fellow CCWers test store policies anyway by not concealing properly or open carrying in these stores. The rule of thumb should be "don't ask, don't tell" and don't tempt them to test their policies out on you.
Yes I've shopped at Costco. Look at their unit prices, compare and prepare to be surprised.
Good point. If no one knows its there, there would never be an issue.
BTW, is it even legal for these companies to ban you for legally carrying? What about cops? Off duty cops? Security guards? I think there is something legally not quite kosher with a policy such as this.
I trust my friends.
