This is not the message that our legal system should be giving to the drug cartels that are smuggling drugs, people and terrorists across our borders," said Tancredo, author of "In Mortal Danger," a book that says the insecure border and immigration enforcement policies represent the No. 1 crisis in the U.S. today.

Hopefully he trying to avoid controversy before the election. This pardon seems quite obviously the right thing to do.

How I wish Rep. Virgil Goode represented my VA district, instead of Congressman Moron. Those Border Patrol agents should get a medal for target shooting -- they got the drug smuggler in the butt.

When President Bush signs the Border Fence funding tomorrow at the White House, it would be a morale booster if he were to pardon these two men at that same time..

But I know he's not even considering pardoning them.

The government wants to build a super highway from Mexico to Canada. Some very smart people think the U.S. economy is dependent on drug cartel money for survival. How many billions are laundered through our banking system, Wall Street and house flipping mortgages? Nobody knows and nobody even cares. The North American Union is the goal.

If Marc Rich,Susan MacDougal and Roger Clinton can get Presidential pardons, then I figure a couple of border guards trying to do their duty can get one too.

12 is a good start.

So that means over 400 House Members didn't sign.

The jury voted to convict, 12-0.
Bush should not pardon the agent's obstruction of justice convictions.

This is just more Tancredo grandstanding.

It would be a great media strategy if he did. Consider, if the MSM reports on it he will be seen as coming down on the strong side (as in widest public support) and the Democrats will be viewed as being anti law enforcement.

And it would force the MSM to talk about something that will cause a surge in Bush's numbers. It will reinstall immigration in people's minds and that is a loosing issue for the Dems.

Curious phenomenon at work here...

In some other context if a couple of cops shot and killed a fleeing suspect, then failed to report it and colluded hide the evidence... most here would be yelling to string them up.

Yet this case is somehow different.

Shucks, the Late CHARLIE ASKINS JR. used to shoot them down all the time when HE was with the border patrol. The Late BILL JORDAN did the same, that is, until new border patrol touchie feelie management came in.
