Well, I used to think that Duke Cunningham had really clean underwear. Boy, did I wind up feeling stupid.
Moderator, Fox News will cover, LIVE, the announcement by Duncan Hunter that he is exploring a run for President. It will be at 2 pm Eastern Time. Would you please consider adding the announcement information to this headline? Thanks.
My point is, a Cunningham taking bribes and acting immorally aside, to demand that Hunter or anyone else be perfectly unassailable is being unrealistic. It all depends on the details. The devil is in the details of any possible "problems".
We have a two term President right now who once got ticketed for DWI, which was revealed on election eve by his enemies. He was an admitted "I drank too much" kind of drinker before swearing off alcohol and becoming very religious. The DWI happened such a long time ago. Yes it hurt him with the people who stay at home at the drop of a drive-by media hat. But he survived.
The rest of the rot about his past is just rumor and inuendo. The National Guard thing was a vicious hit-piece lie.
And be forwarned that any Republican with a ghost of a chance will be treated this way by the Dems and the DBM.
Hunter, President?
Yeah like that's gonna happen.
They said the same about "Shrub" Bush.
Onyx, isn't Hunter your Congressman? Did you hear this?
Rep. Hunter is great on border security and opposing amnesty. A more credible candidate for Tancredo and his Team America PAC to support.
And you liberal clowns have been underestimating him every since there pal.
Bet you still are upset about the 2000 election aren't ya there algore girl.
Thank you for adding the announcement information. (And no, I'm not fronting for Duncan Hunter for President. I don't have a pick for '08 yet. But I will be listening and watching).
That is so funny. Shows how little you know.
He was called "shrub" by his enemies in Texas (never by me). I voted for him twice for Gov. and twice for President. Have been repeatedly called a "Bushbot" on this forum. My one, single and only POINT was that the idea of George W Bush becoming even Gov. of Texas much less President was once a big laugher.
Just like your reaction to Duncan Hunter running for President. "Like that's gonna happen". To quote you.
If this makes you feel any better, I'm from Iowa and I have yet to find a McCain supporter. I have been at a couple of Republican events where we have discussed those we could support and those we can't support. EVERYONE has agreed that McCain is our LAST choice. ANYONE but McCain.
There's a fair number of things you can say about Romney, but unaccomplished isn't one of them, especially when you consider he's governor of a state with huge Democrat majorities in the House and Senate.
In private life, furthermore, he:
Turned around Bain Consulting from near bankrupcy into one of the most successful management consulting companies.
Started Bain Capital, one of the most successful Venture Capital companies in the country. Funded Staples, Domino's, and Brookstone and many other successful companies, creating thousands of jobs and millions in profits to investors. And good products for the rest of us.
Reformed the Olympic Committee to make the Salt Lake Games revenue producing instead of being a near financial disaster.
Then, as Governor, when the state supreme court mandated gay marriage, he ensured that only Massachusetts residents would be eligible.
He's the one!!!!! I will be voting for!
I don't go into your historical postings just read what you said and I get morons all the time here in s.e. florida saying crap like time to trim the bushes.
I try to defend him every time.
I am excited about this. I really think he's the candidate the GOP needs. He's fearless, not intimidated by the media and Demonrats, and we'd put a worthy Vietnam vet in the presidency(John McCain is not the man). He's the candidate conservatives need to rally behind.
I agree with your insight that there definitely is a vacuum to McCain's right, but I don't know that Hunter is the guy to fill it.
Where's Brownback?
Rep. Hunter is a solid conservative, with ACU scores of 92 for both '05 and lifetime. He's strong on defense and border issues.
Hunter is the one who called the press to account on Abu Ghraib and is the one calling for CNN to be denied an embed with our troops in Iraq due to their running of that terrorist propaganda sniper video and he ripped Wolf Blitzer real good on that one. People need to give him a chance. His son is a Marine who has served in Iraq and he himself is a Vietnam vet.
Give him a chance. I think you'll realize that California is a horrible state for GOP candidates with conservative principles to go any further.
