John Kerry Responding to Republican Distortions, Pathetic Tony Snow Diversions and Distractions
johnkerry.com ^

Posted on 10/31/2006 9:37:49 AM PST by Mo1

Washington – Senator John Kerry issued the following statement in response to White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, assorted right wing nut-jobs, and right wing talk show hosts desperately distorting Kerry’s comments about President Bush to divert attention from their disastrous record:

“If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. I’m sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.

I’m not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.

The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.

Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they’re afraid to debate real men. And this time it won’t work because we’re going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq.”

No question that without the Pajamahadeen the MSM would have gladly swept it under the carpet and just continued the whole Foley/Rush-Fox coverage.

"180? I spend my life doing 180s! What do you think flip-flopping is all about? This is just another Republican smear, this claim that I refuse to do 180s."

LOL

This is SO perfect!

We need to spread this when he gears up his next run - and he IS running.

A comic twist like this is more damaging than just straight talk - it will echo in people's heads and they will automatically snicker anytime Kerry and his 180 is mentioned

[D]id you know [John Kerry] served in Viet Nam?

From all I see there is no chance the Treason Media will change. The appointment of Katie Couric shows their cluelessness and their desperation. The grave awaits it.

Kerry's words are being deliberately distorted, and I'm afraid it will backfire on us.

I expect better than that from a fellow Gator.

You posted to daysailer, in response to his/her dimRat spin on Kerry's statement:

He wasn't talking about our President...he was talking about our military...plain and simple. To think otherwise...is, well, unthinkable. IMO

IMO, it's time for the Viking Kittys - Daysailer spun it even better than the dimRats!

With this remark he insults everyone in the military:

"You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

And with this remark he insults everyone who never wore the uniform. Within 24 hours he managed to insult every single American citizen in this country.

"This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. I’m sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.

Just read in another post that the National Commander of The American Legion Paul A. Morin called on Sen. John Kerry to apologize for suggesting that American troops in Iraq are uneducated.

Commander Morin isn't Tony Snow, the White house press secretary, and he's not a right-wing talk show host, so he must be a "right-wing nut job". Also, what does calling Rush Limbaugh "doughy" accomplish? What a jerk. On one hand it's fun to watch the wheels come off, on the other hand this is a US Senator and he's acting like a 4 year old.

“If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq..."

That's a self-confessed war criminal veteran. Yeah, it's a stretch.
But how DARE they quote him! Such gutter politics! (Doesn't this dimwit know when to lie low? Didn't he learn that much from his tour of duty?)

No news conference can save his ass....he's steppin' in it, and the Demcocrats are really scrambling to figure out how to downplay the fact that THIS is how they see the middle class, and that THEY are the elitists, who somehow are blustering about how the middle class will be protected by THEM.

Karl Rove couldn't have written a better scenario to pull out this election.

They will have to divert massive damage control resources to try to deflect from this obvious "spilling of the beans" by the same asshat that lost the election for them in 2004.
