Could Bush-Kerry Fight Hurt Republicans (MSM Desperation!!)
MSNBC/Newsweek ^ | 11-1-06 | Richard Wolffe and Holly Bailey

Posted on 11/01/2006 11:07:09 AM PST by truthandlife

There’s no fight like an old fight. And this week’s emotional exchanges between President George W. Bush and Sen. John Kerry were nothing if not old. Kerry screwed up what he called a “botched joke” about Bush’s brainpower when it comes to Iraq; Bush pounced by challenging his ex-rival’s commitment to the troops.

Memo to Bush and Kerry: neither of you are on the ballot next week. And while it may be satisfying to rehash the last election, you both run the risk of looking totally out of touch.

The risks for President Bush are greater than they are for Senator Kerry, who may have suffered the deep embarrassment of falling into a familiar self-made trap. But he leads nothing inside his party, sets no strategy and the Democrats can easily disown him—as several candidates have done by canceling events with him this week.

MEMO TO [P]MSNBC:

WE KNOW, WE KNOW. When are YOU (and the rest of the LAME STREAM MEDIA) going to accept that fact as well?

Sheesh, no wonder they are near the bottom of the ratings war along with the Clintoon News Network.

There's almost no way this recent flap can hurt the GOP. the question is how much will it help? Kerry just reminded the electorate how sucky the dems are - that's a good thing for the GOP and will add some wind to the sail of their slow momentum as we get to election day.

Yup, just awful to rehash the 2004 election and remind people why more people voted for Republicans than ever before. George W Bush got the most votes ever by an American president, yet we're supposed to think it's bad to revisit this time in history when supposedly the House is up for grabs?

The drive by media has an interesting take, but the spin isn't going to work.

I love the smell of Democrat Flop Sweat in the last week of a campaign.

I have a confession: I wasn't planning on voting. Horrible, I know, but I feel as if its a waste of time voting for either bad or worse. General apathy on my part.

But all the activity and news coverage in the past week has gotten me motivated. I'm voting.

Take that, MSNBC/Newsweek. Kerry's bullsh*t is what is making me vote.

Memo to Wolffe and Bailey: neither of you are on the ballot next week. And while it may be satisfying to rehash the last election, you both run the risk of looking like a couple of embeciles.

...the silence from those in the Dem Party who [set strategy] speaks loudly that Kerry's sentiments are theirs.

Very well stated.

This piece from Time is just a classic MSM attempt at damage control after a prominent Democrat makes a big gaffe. It's clear from Kerry's context that he was not deriding Bush's intelligence (although he's not incapable of doing so, despite the fact that Bush had better grades at Yale than he did and better SAT scores), but he was insulting the collective smarts of the military personnel in Iraq.

As for the article's claim that "Democrats can easily disown" Kerry by cancelling scheduled appearances with him, it is noteworthy that Casey in Pennsylvania is going right on with his event with Kerry despite all this.

Kerry screwed up what he called a “botched joke”

Far be it from me to critize members of the media (they're smarter than us, you know), but doesn't this statement mean: even if Kerry told the joke correctly, it still would be "botched"?

Kerry should give up public speaking and focus on something closer to home like sobering up the pissy drunk he's married to.

As Ann Coulter wrote yesterday, John Kerry is the "botched joke" of American politics.
