This year the networks say they are guarding their exit poll results as if they were crown jewels. The results will be delivered to a "quarantine room," access to which will be granted to only two staffers from each network...
Given that the longer election night might not suit everyone's bedtime, I've prepared an hour-by-hour guide to tonight's results...
All times are Eastern. In a bow to tradition, we've listed states that went for George W. Bush two years ago in red and those that went for John Kerry in blue. The letters after state names indicate governor and senate races, with the incumbent party in the appropriate color (independents in black).
6 p.m.
Polls close in these two states at 6 p.m. local time, which means the eastern portions will end voting at 6 EST. The key races in both states will be a bevy of close House races featuring GOP incumbents.
In Indiana, three GOP House incumbents have been trailing their Democratic challengers in October polls, albeit with survey samples so small the margin of error is large. Watch Rep. Mike Sodrel in the Ninth District. If he wins, it will mean it's unlikely Republicans will face a huge Democratic wave and lose 30 seats or more. If Rep. Chris Chocola in the Second District should survive, the GOP may wind up losing 20 seats or fewer. If Rep. John Hostettler also comes home to victory in the Eighth District, there is a good chance the GOP will retain its House majority. Indiana's Senate race isn't competitive; Republican Dick Lugar will easily win a sixth term.
Kentucky has two barn burners. Republican Rep. Anne Northup has held Louisville's Third District for five terms...

In Kansas, the Democrats are recruiting disgruntled "moderate" Republicans to switch parties to run against the social conservatives. They got Nancy Boyda and Paul Morrison to switch parties to run against Congressman Jim Ryun and AG Phill Kline, respectively. Pray that these slimy opportunists don't win and that the good people of Kansas will see through the charade and realize that these people aren't moderates, they're liberals and will act as such when elected.

Before I turn in for a nap after a busy morning, I'll share a unique little election story with yon Freepers.
It's happening in Delaware. Two great races going on in Delaware yet you don't hear much what with all the tight races and such.
the first interesting race is for Attorney General of all things. Ferris Wharton, the prosecutor in charge of the trial of famed murderer Thomas Capano, versus Beau Biden, son of Joe. The conservatives in this state are doing everything to block Beau as he is, heh, the son of Joe.
The more intriguing story is the candidacy of one Christine O'Donnell. Never heard of Christine O'Donnell? Perhaps tonight you will. So I'll give you Freepers a heads up lest you be out of the know.
Christine O'Donnell fought to be nominated for Delaware's GOP candidate to run against Tom Carper, the Democratic incumbent Senator. Christine O'Donnell is a devout Christian and openly espouses bringing back Christian principles to our nation.
She was considered anathema to Delaware's Republican party, most of them RINO's at any rate in this blue state.
A whole bunch of people were angered by Christine's dismissal by the pubbies and a groundswell formed to elect Christine as a write-in for Delaware's Senator.
The GOP here did nominate an affable but lackluster fellow called Jan Ting. Ting could be a robot and when confronted with anything outside of his talking points he waffled. If there's nothing worse than a Democratic talking head it has to be a Republican talking head.
Well I was gonna vote for Ting anyway because never a Democrat, not ever. Then I got swept up into the campaign of Christine O'Donnell.
Christine got an hour time on the local talk station, listened to by everybody in Sussex county, Delaware. I listened to her and ...why I loved the woman!
All of a sudden big billboards started popping up all up and down Delaware's highways and byways and lawn signs started sprouting up with pleas to write in Christine O'Donnell for Delaware Senator.
I got myself so enamored of the concept I even went to one of her campaign stops. Below is the link to my story and there's a pic of me actually posing with Christine. Scroll way down towards the bottom of the post. Or read the rest of the post, I don't mind.
When I went to vote today everyone was having problems handling a write-in vote. Well I wonder why this is?
Heck, I couldn't even get mine to work right. Every poll worker had instructions on how to handle write-in votes and big signs were displayed prominantly on the walls. Think they were expecting some write-in votes, just a hunch?
Now a little about Sussex county Delaware. It is, I say proudly, the most wonderful little enclave of conservatism now growing geometrically for its space and nearby beaches. The populace increases from the movement of middle-aged, moderate couples desperate to escape nearby liberal hells of Merryland, New Jersey, and PA.
Christine O'Donnell is one very popular candidate here in Sussex county and I think it's entirely possible she may carry at least this county as a write-in for Senator. Sussex county is not only one the largest county in Delaware, it is one of the largest counties in America.
She'll never make it in Delaware's other two counties, heh, one of which includes mighty Wilmington and its just as mighty dead vote.
Just in case, sometime tonight, there's the big surprise that a senatorial candidate elected by write-in vote, remember you read it here first. Christine regularly has commercials instructing on how to write-in and she's become the darling of Sussex county. And she really is a nice, very nice young lady, I was impressed by her. Imagine running for Senator as a write-in...takes some courage.

I am with you. I have school tonight and when I get home I'm going straight to bed. I'm not going to stay up all night riding that emotional rollercoaster again.
We're in Upstate NY, so it doesn't make that much difference because of NYC, but our conservative/conservative area has already gotten a record turn out. I'm impressed. We live in a great area.

Just came back from voting here in New York, although I don`t know how much good it`s going to do being that the idiots here worship Hillary like the second coming of Christ (or more likely Allah)...Anyone getting any vibes here yet on the ultimate outcome, if terror is getting a foothold or Repubs are going be able to continue to hold it back?
It's going to feel strange to vote for Al Gore's former running mate, but he seems to be the choice among Republicans in CT this year. As you say, the vote is not really for Lieberman, it's against Lamont. The Republican hasn't got a chance, whatever his name is.
