What Republicans need to learn from tonight...
11/07/06 | Philistone

The most important thing that Republicans should learn from tonight is that America is a representative democracy.

This does NOT mean that your congress critter shares ALL your beliefs, or that he is a perfect human being, but rather that, in general, he votes the way you want him to.

It's like hiring a lawyer. You may despise his personal life and his principles, but what is important is that he WINS YOUR CASE.

Democraps could care less about the morals of their elected officials as long as they win.

Republicans could learn a lesson here...

"Simple: Conservatism wins everytime, and the GOP failed to govern as the Conservative Party."

That says it all!

Never been a democrap.

Just shows how you are willing to play with the national security of our country out of a petty sense of petulance.

LOL, dream on.

The MSM runs this country, they have ACTIVELY CAMPAIGNED 24/7 against us since 94, which is why the class of 94 got NOWHERE in reducing the size of gov, because the MSM CAMPAIGNED against them while they were in office, and many lost 2 years later.

We cannot even win a war for goodness sake, we have enemy propaganda on TV everyday, since Vietnam.

If your kind of thinking remains, they will only get stronger.

There is no way a pol can govern and run a 24/7 campaign at the same time, its to expensive, logistically impossible, and physically impossible.

Good grief, I have said this for a decade, and still I hear we just need new leaders, evertime one of them is assassinated and ruined by the press, we say, OK, lets find another one.

Crazy!

I suspect the "values" voters didn't turn out because of Foley.

They're a real PITA.

***...But now, our country is at great risk. If any of these cut and run cowards start to bitch and whine about how things are going in the coming months, they should be flamed, slammed and banned.***

Amen!

They may not get everything they want from the Republicans, but the chance to change that was in the primaries. Under the Dems. they'll get NONE of what they want. And... Congress will think they've been taught the Dem. way is what America really wants.

Except in Pennsylvania.

I think he pissed off alot of conservatives by backing Scottish Law Expert Arlen Specter. I could be wrong.

Yeah, Santorum did tick me off. I have to admit that I wasn't going to vote for him BUT I am NOT stupid. Of course I voted for him. I certainly wasn't going to vote for that empty suit, Casey!!

What we all need to learn is that this is PRECISELY what Hillary and Bill have set up for '08.

They allowed/encouraged the left to move further to the left, to the point of appearing whacko (re: Dean, Murtha, Pelosi). Now, they've got a split Congress and split Governorships guaranteed to produce partisan fighting and in-fighting between seemingly extremist positions. They don't really want to win both houses, a Dem House/Republican Senate is the perfect ticket is guaranteed to allow the House Dems to paint the Senate Republicans as obstructionist.

This will allow Hillary to position herself as a moderate, centrist just in time for the '08 elections.

Don't any of you think it's funny that there were so many Republican Congressmen "scandals" right before the mid term elections -- from the Queen of the FBI files and the Clinton's willing accomplices in the press????

We are all being played by MASTER politicians, people.

What we should learn is that Democrats ran to the right to take the house, and the Republicans ran nowhere. Time to get back on track and set agendas. Elect us so we can..(fill in the blank.)

I'm just curious to see how many of those DINOS are going to bite them in the butt.

"It's ironic that the Republicans in the House, the one body that stood against amnesty for illegal alien invaders and was arguably the most conservative part of government, is the body that appears to be smacked the hardest tonight. "

No, but you and your buddy Crystal will spin it that way. Dems who won against conservatives, went out of there way to show that they had conservative values. Republican conservatives got beat because they behaved like liberal RINOs and the general public was fooled by the media into believing that they were all corrupt.

Bush/Rove and the GOP big tent is over. Either Republicans stand for something or they dont. The game is over. I would rather go over the cliff at 100 mph than limp along at 1mph.

You're absolutely right. If we're going to build a true movement, we have to build a strong media (including print, radio and film) movement. This election showed the old media still has a lot of sway.

***It'll be a whole new ballgame then. I hope the GOP learnt a lesson from this one and start to get back to Ronald Reagans vision of America.***

I wouldn't count on it. They learn from votes. Tonight is breaking for the Dems. The lesson the D.C. crowd will learn is that they need to be less conservative and more like the democrats.

It will take a revolutionary to bring them back to Reagan's vision; someone who doesn't know the lesson of incumbency politics. Who is that person? We need to find him... NOW!
