"Bush will now have to try and prosecute a war against our enemies while shitbirds like Conyers prosecute a war on him."

      THE HOUSE CONTROLS THE MONEY.

      THE MONEY CONTROLS THE WOT.

      ANY QUESTIONS?

Bauer is up by 5,600 votes with all but 20 precincts reporting (out of 2059). I suppose he might still lose it, but with his dumb luck he will pad his lead rather than see it narrow.

And, if the Donks take action to remove Mr. Bush from office (with their new found 'power') ... VP Cheney would then be called President Cheney and Lynn would be called First Lady Lynn Cheney.

(Bet they don't do anything cause they know who will be the new prez.)

The Democrats aren't going to have enough votes to remove the President from office. Not anywhere close to it.

You left out the "according to the MSM" part. They always think things are ROSY when Dems are in control.

They'll think its great that Nancy Halitosi is the first female "Speaker", and will love it when she has her first "PMS moment" and stamps her foot and bursts into tears during a House session. I'm sure we'll hear about every nuance and how "cute" they think it is.

Dubya claimed he had a mandate after 2004, too, and we all know how quickly that was spent.

Spent$$. Isn't that the truth.

Hey guys, this is not a time for doom and gloom. If you want that mentality become a democrat. I am dissapointed, but not bowed or beaten. We now have 2008 to look to and we must work very hard to force Republican Leadership to recruit and develop solid conservative leadership within the party. Dewine deserved his fate, as did other republicans that chose to move to the Left. Having said that, we also managed to throw out some conservatves that hopefully can come back into the fray next election cycle. We need to craft a solid conservative message:

Lower taxes or real tax overhaul

Strong national defense

Strong enforcement and enhancement of immigration laws

Smaller, more efficient government

Real spending control

Real review and reform of entitlements

All of these things are winning issues for us IF we have the balls to stand up and present our ideas to the public. Let the Dims run around and wail and moan about everything.....let us present solutions....let us be the party of effective government.....it'll only happen if we lose this compassionate conservatism crap....and return to Reagan Conservatism as a philosophy.

Now comes Nancy 100 hours to liberal hell. Raise taxes to kill a booming economy, and surrender a nuclear capable country with a trillion dollars in oil assets to terrorists. Pelosi is brilliant, I tell you, brilliant. We need a new direction.

A Recession and being nuked will sell great in 2008.

Yeah, and places like this that supported all the ANTI conservative crap coming out of the whitehouse and the legislature, can pat themselves on the back for helping the communists regain power.

But I guess a little communism will be a nice change after all these years of fascism.

"return to Reagan Conservatism as a philosophy."

On that note I will agree heartily . . . and go to sleep.

After all, tomorrow is another day.

You left out conservative Christian values..abortion, marriage, etc, etc. The Conservative Christian makes up the bulk of the Republican Party. It is imperative that the Republican leadership recognize this and move to the right , or risk losing the entire lock stock and barrel which will create a new party....that is how I see it. I may be wrong but that is what I am hearing...and yep, I am one of them!!!

I don't recall that happening int he last 6 years while the Republicans had majority and I find absolutley no rationale for expecting (or even hoping) that it will mysteriously begin to happen now.

And therein lies the rub.

On one of the few bright sides, at least Chaffee lost. Hell a few of the new democrats elected were more conservative than him, at least during the election. No doubt most will show their true colors once they get to their Mecca of power, but maybe there's a Zell Miller of two in there.

Truth is this loss was earned. Not because of Iraq, or the price of gas, or some idiot with a thing for Congressional pages. All of those issues are noise that that the MSM hypes to blur the issues.

Truth is Americans want to win the war on terror, in Afgahnistan, Iraq, and any other place the terrorists are stupid enough to stick their heads out of the holes they call home. The hardest part of this election for me is that the men and women of our armed forces might think, if only for a second, that our nation doesn't support the sacrafice they are making for our safety, security, and lives. I've got two kids who know that our American soldiers protect them from the monsters that not even daddy can, and a third that will once he is old enough. I hope to God, that our men and women don't think we have failed or abondoned them.

In my opinion this loss was earned from the standard inability of the Republican party to accept success and lead; provide a clear vision for the future; and have the guts to follow through and get to a vote that the American people can see and judge. Screw winning or losing, take the vote and make people accountable.

The House has to be accountable - no vision, no plan, no consolidate message. Blame it on the defensive posture caused by the myriad of crap flung at them by the MSM if you want, but those distractions didn't work under Newt. The freaking Republicans need to learn that holding power means nothing if you don't have an agenda for the nation, and you don't use that power to advance it. That failure pretty much sums up the last six years, and this election.

The Senate has to be accountable. As I noted above - at least Chaffee is gone. Too many of those middle of the road, position changes with the wind idiots in that elitist group of obstructionists to start with. Dems +1, Reblicans +5, what's the difference? Standard has been at supermajority for any productive results out of that flapping wing of the government so expect more of the same - nothing. Hastert might have been able to steer the House here and there, but with the effectiveness roadblock known as the Senate operating at SNAFU, it had to be like banging his head on a brick wall.

What now?

Build a plan. Call it contract with America II, call it whatever you want, but build a plan. Don't poll people about what they think of the plan. Just build a plan for our nation that represents American values. Spend the next six months refining that plan (no polls or focus groups). Get it air tight. Package it. Get it out, get it known. Make the promise that if you elect us (not me) these things will happen. Make it clear that if these things happen the United States will be better off because these will be the results.

Fact is voters have changed. "Keep it simple stupid" and "its the economy" are bygones of a past era. Nothing is simple anymore, and most people don't understand the economy. Voters want results.

Worth clarifying - voters want results, and people who will provide them.

Bush will get his open border amnesty. That will hurt the United States with over population and a third world workforce competeing in the US for jobs with Americans. It will strengthen unions and it will give Democrats a boat load of voters into the future.

There will be no regulation controling illegal voting. Democrats will redraw districts to make themselves a majority for a long, long time.

I agree. With 10-20 million new victim Democrat voters, the Republicans will never get in again. If it weren't for amnesty that the Dems will pass and Bush will dance to jig while signing, I'd say the Dems in power could lead to bigger changes in 2008. But not with amnesty around the corner. The Senate bill would've cost us billions, not to mention importing 3rd world people that refuse to assimilate and devour our tax dollars like there's no end in sight.
