Sorry, I wasn't really directing that at you. I've just seen countless posts on this thread predicting the end of the world and something snapped. ;-)

The GOP will not survive as a party of angry white Southern married Christians.

Gimme a break - it's not about identity politics.

Martinez is one of the guys trying to make sure we don't drill for oil in the GOM off the FL coast. I wouldn't vote for him again over that.

The way Hayworth explained it last week on Hanity, he was sure he would come out ahead. He wasn't just blowin' smoke. He had the numbers.

I watch the Senate all of the time...I am going by what I have seen.

I am also saying that he has a full time job already..there are probably a lot of people that could do the job..that don't have a job that would take attention off of getting a GOP POTUS and Congress elected less than 2 years ago.

IF we had won Tuesday..perhaps we would have less reason to get worried...but we LOST.

"Sen. Mel Martinez, a Florida Republican elected in 2004, has accepted an offer by the White House to become the new chairman of the Republican National Committee,"

Why does the Whitehouse get to choose the chairman? Is this in GOP bylaws?

About Steele, exactly. Martinez is a bad choice too. We need someone who will communicate Reaganite views very clearly, attractively, and aggressively on TV -- AND run party operations. It is dumb to split the job between two people, dumb to give the RNC chairmanship to someone who has another job, and dumb to give blacks and Hispanics extra points for being black or Hispanic.

Why would the party that just LOST name a LOSER as national chairman??

They just did, which is evidenced by the huge amount of discontent exhibited on this forum.

"Consider this one, though ... Mel resigns his seat to head the RNC and JEB APPOINTS KATHERINE HARRIS as his replacement!!!"

Ha! THAT would be hilarious!

Not going to happen. The moonbat left won't vote for her...they've already said they're voting green. And it's not like Martinez is running for President.

On that note, I don't know who SHOULD run for President. Definitely not any RINOs. I'm kind of hoping Haley Barbour should run for President. When Mississippi got hit by a hurricane, Barbour kept his strength and did what needed to be done. I don't know.

For what it's worth, Lindsay Graham scored a 96. Shoot, Rick Santorum only scored a 92!

Not one life issue mentioned in the above scorecard. And the only illegal alien issue mentioned was funding for more immigration and customs enforcement people...not exactly securing the southern border.

So I'd take the ACU ratings with a bit of a grain of salt...

But.. But .. But ..
Duly noted, Thanks!

I know nothing about Mr. Martinez so I don't feel it's my place to trash the man.

Well you know he's a senator, and nothing speaks of entrenched Washington like the word "senator". Only a third of the senate is accountable to the voters every two years leaving the other two-thirds act irresponsibly. McCain, Warner, and Graham go their happy moderate way and Allen, Talent and Burns pay the price. I am taking an extreme dislike to the senate.

I say this only because we need a FIGHTER, someone who will stand up to the Democrats... Mel Martinez (who is my Senator) is NOT that man.

FYI, I was a Freeper years ago, left because of the acidity of people, could not remember username, password, etc so I re-upped.

Semper FI, my friend.

OT: "Mel Martinez defeated pro-abortion Betty Castor (D) in Florida"

Pro-abortion Betty Castor's daughter, Kathy Castor (D), defeated the Republican candidate to replace Jim Davis in the U.S. House of Representatives.
