I suppose you may be right. But I think the answer is to stand up and say yes, I did this, go to hell. Milqeutoast is not going to get the job done.

The radical realist who defied conventional wisdom 12 years ago by stealing the House out from under the noses of entrenched Democrats

He stole the House how? By waking the US voter up to what the liberals were doing to this country! It seems that Newt needs to ring that bell again. It would be nice to have some thought in the Whitehouse again.......

2004 gave The House, Senate, and the White House a mandate to act like a Conservative.

They didn't do that. Looks like some DINOs were voted in the House this last year. I saw were several former Republicans ran as a D and won in Indiana, Ohio, and I think in Kentucky and Virginia.

Also, I think Nancy Peloser was shown that it was not about her far left agenda when Murtha lost to Hoyer by a serious margin (140something to 80something).

Newt is right. Act like a Conservative and people will vote for you. Bush's numbers only go down when he makes the Right mad. Makes me mad to see him sit down and have tea and crumpets with the queen Crumpet herself (Peloser).

Maybe I am a Conservative Optimist, but I think the Dems won't get much of their agenda passed. They will shoot themselves in the foot and Newt's Conservative Agenda will become what it is all about.

Also, if they could learn, the Dems would see that a lot of winners in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Virginia (maybe other places too) ran on a Conservative Agenda.

He might have some difficulty with personal life issues, as conservatives would expect moral character to be a desired quality. Although he does meet the issues requirement, I have the same problem with his moral character as Rudy Giuliani.

That was the reason the RNC et al pushed Pres. Bush to be nominated, because he was the only one who could win. Do really think that makes sense?

Newt's got a few skirt-chasing issues, I'm afraid.

What? Too slow to catch one? Or fast enough to catch more than his limit?

True, and you are free to champion him if you want, but a strikes-against candidate is not what we need. Ideologically? He was great. Practically? He sucked at it.....
