Freue dich, freue dich, O Christenheit!
Christkindchen komm in unser Haus,
Leer deine schönen Sachen aus,
Stell dein Eselchen auf den Mist,
Daß es Heu und Hafer frißt.

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christendom!
The Christ-Child to our house has come.
Bring now forth thy treasures fine,
Lift thine ass-colts from the mire
That they on hay and oats may dine.

From all of us at Chez B-Chan
to all of our friends here
God Bless you all.
"Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,
because he has come and has redeemed his people.
He has raised up a horn of salvation for us
in the house of his servant David
as he said through his holy prophets of long ago),
salvation from our enemies
and from the hand of all who hate us
to show mercy to our fathers
and to remember his holy covenant,
the oath he swore to our father Abraham:
to rescue us from the hand of our enemies,
and to enable us to serve him without fear
in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.
And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High;
for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him,
to give his people the knowledge of salvation
through the forgiveness of their sins,
because of the tender mercy of our God,
by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven
to shine on those living in darkness
and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the path of peace." [Luke 1:68-79]
MERRY CHRISTMAS, Everybody...
The moderators, too...? :-)
USA Network is running the WWE Tribute to the Troops - Christmas in Baghdad tonight.
Great to see the Troops having some enjoyment.
Yes, I had it on for awhile this morning. I love how they just keep a picture of a fireplace on the TV screen while playing the music.
They did it last year, too.
Ashame that there was no visit by the President to the troops in Iraq or Afghanistan...
Merry Christmas to all who frequent here. Merry Christmas as well to Jim. John, the mods and others that make this a great meeting place.
You're already a pro! GOOD on you.
Merry Christmas, B!
Thanks to everyone who posted. I'll add all the greetings in Polish, Irish, and Japanese next year!
P.S. -- Remember: the feast of Christmas lasts 12 days (until Epiphany on 6 January), and Christmastide (the Christmas season) lasts until 2 February (Candlemas, aka Groundhog Day), so keep on celebrating!
(And don't forget to wish your Eastern/Orthodox friends a Merry Christmas on 7 January!)
Have a blessed St. Stephen's Day (26 December)!
