This was first posted to my mail list and here in June 06. It keeps making laps around the net and has ended up here on several different postings. Please visit the link, read the original and understand the events that prompted it. In the New Year let's all make an effort to support those who courageously defend us.
Happy New Year Freepers.
Well said. Truthful New Year!
When in the past have our borders been secure ?
Until the late 80's both our borders were wide open.
Our entire focus is on the Hispanic illegal while Russian,Chinese,Irish Middle Easterners and others cross our borders

Five months after the hostage taking, Carter ordered military action to rescue them. The mission failed.
Say what you will about that mission. Feel free to criticize. But I don't see how that demonstrated a "lack of spine".
If the mission had succeeded, Carter probably would have been reelected and declared the new Eisenhower.
WOW! (I didn't know you were here!) Thanks for your continued service to this great nation. WELCOME ABOARD!
Thank you for all you have done.
Bump!!
Thanks for the heads-up. I did multiple searches here at FR and could not find the earlier posts.
Yeah, it takes "spine" to send other people out on a poorly planned mission. Some of them died for nothing as there was no chance of success.
Why are you defending Carter?
I was criticizing the author, not defending Carter. I said the author was wrong when he said, "(Carter) then lacked the spine to confront the terrorists when they took our embassy and our people hostage." He did confront the terrorists -- he sent the military to kill them.
"Yeah, it takes "spine" to send other people out on a poorly planned mission."
The military rescue mission was the correct thing to do. You don't agree? I doubt the actual plan was Carter's. I'm guessing the military came up with it.
You want to nitpick because it failed? Be my guest. But do it without me.
