Soon after the media reported Friday that a St. Louis-area boy who had been missing four days was found — along with a teen who had been missing four years — people all over the country took up the case.
Those cybersleuths, most without even a hint of police training, began searching the Internet for information about the man who is accused of kidnapping Ben Ownby, missing since last week, and Shawn Hornbeck, who disappeared in 2002.
They searched sex offender registries across the nation for the suspect's name, Michael Devlin, and gathered all sorts of news articles and other information off the Web.
By late that afternoon, a blog operated by Steve Huff, CrimeBlog.US, was linked to the personal Web page of a "Shawn Devlin" of Kirkwood — and a comment written on the guest book of ShawnHornbeck.com in December 2005.

How do you find that website? What is on it? I have the link given here on another column regarding the strange comments made by 'shawn devlin' but it doesn't update. Can you post it?

Freepers were way ahead of this guy....we found and were discussing these posts the night Shawn was found...on the live thread.
I know...not only that...but weren't WE the ones that were questioning the MSM, that was reporting that Devlin had a record in Utah, for sexual charges???
This site was WAY ahead of the media finding out this is a different Michael Devlin.

Yes...I and a couple of others noticed that the two Devlins could not be the same person...even though the MSM kept reporting it for hours....all we did was compare mug shots...lol

FR will never get credit because it has been deemed a "Hate" site by the MSM. Fox News will give FR credit when due, but that's about it. I have a very Conservative sister-in-law who is afraid to visit FR because of this very successful branding.
