A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos): 1.19.07

I found no new photos of the president today but there are some photos of Laura in Paris, at the conference on Missing and Exploited Children. As Tony Snow's assistant conducted the press briefing today, and the State of the Union address is next Tuesday, January 23rd at 9:00 PM EST, it seems likely it is crunch time for getting the address ready.

Defense Secretary Gates continues his visit to Iraq, in Basra and Talil, where he is being briefed.

Jay Hein, Director of the WH Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, discussed the President's compassion agenda and the recently launched Compassion in Action Roundtables.

Text of Dana Perino's press briefing today (information on SoTU).

Mama I just saw your post here.

There isn't much any of us can say. You have been through more than anyone should have to go through in one year, but I know that YOU know that the Lord has been with you each step of the way.

Your friends here will lift you up in prayer that God will give you the comfort that only He can give. God be with you, dear sister!

Sweet snugs, you can donate anytime. We've reached our goal but donations are still coming in and they're all needed, since some pledges fall through.

Very nice Dose tonight, Gretchen. Thank you and the rest of the Dose posters for your diligence in bringing our President and his administration into our homes!

I was anxious to get home tonight to tell you all about our wonderful President and how he feels about our troops and vice versa. I was hoping there would be pics of the President's very important guests today, but not surprised there was none. I may be getting some soon to share with you. ;*)

Today was "Tour the White House" day for our wounded heroes at Walter Reed. To state our troops and their families were excited would be a gross understatement.

When they arrived they learned President Bush had ordered the barriers and ropes be removed. As they wandered freely throughout the White House, President Bush emerged from the Oval office to visit with them. Seeing some ropes still up, he told the secret service agents to remove them. One lady said they were not happy about it and said, "But Mr. President..." President Bush firmly instructed all barriers removed so our troops could move around freely.

The President then spent several minutes chatting with EACH ONE of them. He spotted one soldier he had visited when he was still in the hospital and said, "Hey Tony! I see you have your new leg!" Tony and his fiance could not believe that the President of the United States would not only remember his face and name, but that he was missing a leg the last time he saw him.

Of course there were hugs and kisses for the ladies, much to their approval! One lady in a wheel chair allowed me to touch the top of her head where he had kissed her. ;*)

Offering words of encouragement and gratitude for their service, the Commander-in-Chief was a giant among men in the eyes of his troops.

Dear MamaB,

I don't think we have ever talked but you are always so inspiring, even when you need cheering up. You are strong and may God keep you so. I hope you are now feeling alright and have a great dinner tomorrow (technically tonight by the time I post this). And to cheer you up, I'll just say... Guinea Pigs. Because they are cute and cheer me up. :) Kind of like puppies. They are just fun.

God Bless and Keep you!

Justa, this post deserves it's own thread. Why don't you work it up with this & more detail. with your pix & post it. I;ll bet maybe NOT a full Dose List Ping but a partial one for "regulars " is in order. Also we need to ping the DC FReeper/Patriots.

Thank you ..what a great first read here at FR..

hugs hon

(and wouldn't it be JUST YOUR LUCK that one if the"official pix" would have YOU front & center)...

reminds me of the Motown song from times past.. Nowhere to run to baby, no where to hide.

MamaB - I hope your birthday celebration is wonderful. I know things just aren't the same without loved ones "being at the party." I lost my Mom a year ago, and it's just really different. Mom, Dad and only sib gone, I find that I get deeper solace in my remaining family and friends. They are like jewels that linger in my life.

Enjoy what you have, and do your best, GF, to have a lovely day.

Thank you for your post CT. I have just one thing to say about it...

As I read it, I wondered "why?" Why has the immigration issue become such a front and center discussion under Bush and not Clinton? I lived here in San Diego county when Reagan gave the first amnesty and thought "ohhh, that's kind of him." Then in the ensuing years the influx continued and my town has largely become half barrio. Illegals everywhere, crowding into apts and homes, sleeping in the bushes under my windows, etc.

I could have put up with that, as I understand the value of their labors here, and heck, we need them.

But, 9/11 happened, and suddenly the light was turned on - our borders are porous and we're not safe.

The OTM (other than mexicans) also pour across the unchecked border crossings.

It's a security issue CT, pure and simple.

Our lovely President says he wants to protect the homeland, but then leaves the borders open. That is very perplexing to me, and I'm still trying to sort out his motivations.

The media and liberals are of one mind, and just take advantage of this. But somehow, I expect more from our Republican leadership. So far, so bad.

Now I've done it - mentioned immigration on this thread in a negative manner, so I will excuse myself and leave.

No need for anyone to shoo me away - I'm gone. Hanging up on myself, as Hugh Hewitt would say - LOL. But YOU started it!
