My aunt and uncle sent this out to our family at 6:30 AM today. Carrie is my young cousin, a very gifted artist, and the second eldest among her siblings. She and her family are in Michigan.
Prayer reqeust from my aunt and uncle (Carrie is their granddaughter).
This morning on her way to work Carrie's car slid on the highway and into a tree. She has very bad injuries, especially to her head. Her brain is swelling and she is now in surgery. They plan to open her skull to allow for the swelling, and she is not responding. They don't give her parents a lot of hope. We are telling everyone so you can join us in praying for our dear Caroline. They called her parents about 7:45 this morning and they're at the hospital now.
You and Carrie remain in my prayers, dear Gretchen!
(((hugs)))
Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Fill me with life anew,
That I may love what thou dost love,
And do what Thou wouldst do.
Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Until my heart is pure,
Until with Thee I will one will,
To do and to endure.
Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Unite my soul with Thine,
Until this earthly part of me
Glows with Thy fire divine.
Breathe on me, Breath of God,
So shall I never die,
But live with Thee the perfect life
Of Thine eternity. Amen. - Robert Jackson
Thank you for letting us know. Prayers continue...
Sorry to hear you’ve got to send your computer to the shop. Hope it can be fixed without costing you an arm and a leg. I’ll be heading to Rochester, NY next Wednesday to be with my sister. She’s having an angiogram on Thursday. I’ll be staying with her at least through the weekend, if not a few days into the following week. There are other family members we’d like to get together with while I’m back in the area. I’m taking my laptop with me, but my sister doesn’t have a computer herself, and I doubt I’ll be able to find a wireless connection in her apartment building. If I can’t get online somewhere during that time, I’ll have to wait until I get home to read your updates. Please know I haven’t forgotten Carrie, you or the family and will continue to pray for you all.
Amen to that song Faith.
Happens to be one of my favorites.
I know that Gretchen is not able to be online right now due to computer problems , but I just wanted to remind us all to continue to pray for Carrie, and her family.
“God’s Hand is not shortened that it cannot save”... Our Heavenly Father is watching over Carrie.
Gretchen, I pray that your computer problems will be resolved quickly and easily.
Polly
You're more than welcome. More prayers on their way.
8ut I have some wonderful news and even though I can't keep the PC functioning long enough to get the full updates to you, I had to make an effort to tell you all this:
Carrie swallowed 2 Tablespoons of yogurt the first day her mom fed it to her, and has been swallowing other things as well, such as popsicle chips.
I am sure this was incredibly encouraging to her family. I knew you'd want to share the joy! Thank you all for keeping her in your prayers.
Still praying!!
Oh ((( GEM ))) that’s wonderful news! Thank you for updating us.
Oh, Gretchen, that is wonderful progress! Praise God for such a big step forward.
I am very happily surprised at such a good sign..but, not surprised she is making progress. She has many, many “aunts” and “uncles” praying hard for her daily...
Prayers for you, also, that you get your computer problems fixed...I know I would be going crazy if I couldn’t post.
sleuth
Continued prayers.
Oooh, that is truly awesome, Gretchen. Prayers continue for Carrie, and her family from the Lone Star State.
Good News Bump!
Prayers continue.
Swallowing is good.
Good luck with the computer woes.
That is very good to hear.
It sounds like it would be significant.
I just saw this for the first time, Gretchen...sent a prayer for Carrie. So glad she is home. She is covered by God’s love and I know He will heal her. God bless her, you, your family and her caregivers.
That is wonderful! And we can add eating to our prayers for her complete recovery.
As an aside on the power of prayer... a dear friend of mine had surgery 2 weeks ago. His body isn’t in very good shape due to diabetes and long term congestive heart failure. He either had a stroke, or an aneurysm during the surgery and wasn’t able to properly wake up or speak afterwards. After a week of many people sending up prayers, positive thoughts and much love, he suddenly opened his eyes, asked the nurse for a glass of water and told his wife that he loved her!
He has a long road ahead of him, but the doctors were talking to his wife about how the process of ‘letting him go’ would commence, they showed her the CAT scan with the pools of blood in his frontal lobes... And now he’s in a regular room, looking at rehab options. :-)
There are many miracles in our lives. Carrie’s situation has hit me like a clue-by-4 to make me aware of them. :-D
Mmmm... yogurt and popsicles! :-D
Thank you for this wonderul news. My prayers continue.
6ut, 8ut this is wonderful! ; )
