I went to a drive-thru yesterday, and when I got to the window, the girl told me the lady in front of me saw my Marine Corps license plates, and she paid for my stuff.
I didn't get a chance to thank her, she just drove away, and it was just totally out of the blue. That was really cool. I'm still thinking about that. I've been out for 15 years. Wow. You read about stuff like this from time to time, someone seeing someone in uniform and paying their tab, but this actually happened to me, and I thought I'd let y'all know.

That is awesome. Although I was young, I remember what my brother, also a Marine, went through upon returning from Nam.

You felt good, and so did she, perfect ending. I bought a phone card for a soldier at DIA awhile back, and I felt great. He seemed embarrassed, but I'm sure he recovered. I also told him to tell all his buddies that a lot of us support them all the way.

I was in C-1-5 1967-68; H-2-6 in 1968-69.
My boyfriend paid the tab of a uniformed soldier and his family once - and everyone acted so shocked. I thought it was the LEAST we could do. Americans should act more grateful. Good post.

I think that's awesome. Unfortunately, I very rarely fly. But I will keep that in mind if that changes.

My friend started attending this one church about a year ago. One of the things the minister advocated is doing something like you described. My friend went through a carwash about 4 weeks ago and she paid for the person behind her. She didn't stick around for a "thank you". She felt good just doing someone a good turn.
