Family in Bosnia describes Utah gunman as child of war and upheaval

TALOVICI, Bosnia-Herzegovina (AP) - Relatives of the Bosnian teen who shot and killed five people in a Salt Lake City mall said the boy's early life was marked by war and upheaval: The family fled Serb forces on foot when he was 4 and his grandfather was killed in the war. Sulejman Talovic was a toddler when fighting broke out in Bosnia in 1992. Serb troops laid siege to the hamlet of Talovici in northeastern Bosnia, bombing it for a year before overrunning his home village in March 1993. ''We were besieged and bombed day and night. We couldn't stick our noses out of the house,'' Talovic's cousin, Redzo Talovic, 59, recalled Thursday.
''At first we all hid from the shells, but later we gave up on life, didn't care and started coming out. That's how ... the shelling killed 20 people in the village,'' he said.
Young Sulejman, his three siblings, his mother Sabira and grandfather made the difficult journey on foot to Srebrenica, while his father, Suljo, hid in the mountains with other men from the village, relatives said.
''Many left the village, only a few made it,'' said Murat Avdic, 54, a family friend.

* Wells Fargo Bank has established the Trolley Square Memorial Fund to benefit the families of all of the shooting victims. Donations can be made at any Utah branch.

Thank you for posting that information: It is really needed here, because the victims are the ones we should be focusing on.
To Avdic and all other meatheads out there, I have another theory: He did it because he is a member of a death cult. Get three of them together and soon they are saying "Death to this!" or "Death to that!". Read the Koran and find, "Kill them wherever you find them"; listen to Muslim theorists and hear them justify indiscriminate killing of Americans and Jews, calling them part of the military they are fighting. Irrationality, fanaticism and bloodlust -- a lethal combination if there ever was one; and it's being played out on a daily basis all around the world.
Anyone notice the last name of the terrorist (Talovic) and the name of the town in Bosnia he grew up in???

Soooooo. he decided to kill a bunch of innocent Mormons who nevr did anything to him. Yeah, that sounds logical. I'm sure Allah told him to do it too. This may be one case where I'm not expecting the genocidal psychopath to NOT be on anti-depressants like all of the other ones are who shoot up schools or officebuildings. My sister in law & her sisters, at the same age, hid under beds & haystacks from Red Chinese troops, before her family was able to flee China to Maylasia.
Her Chinese-American nieces recently graduated from universities. Her uncle is an emeritus professor of medicine at Stanford. She earned her MLS, and recently retired from NASA as a research librarian. Other close relatives are rather well-to-do plantation owners in Maylasia.
All of them are Christian; none of them are violent, let alone murderers.
