Canteen Music Dedication

For this weeks Canteen Music Dedication we move along the timeline to "Glam Metal" music.

Glam metal is a sub-genre of heavy metal music that arose in the late 1970s in the United States. It was a dominant genre in popular rock music throughout the 1980s and early 1990s.

The genre is also referred to, often by detractors, as hair metal or pop metal. This term was popularized by MTV in the 1990s and derives from the tendency amongst some bands to style their long hair in a teased-up fashion. In modern culture, fans of the style have embraced the term glam metal. During its heyday, the genre was often referred to as heavy metal or simply metal.

The selections below are just a sampling. This music is provided for the entertainment of our Troops, Veterans, Allies & their families!

Enjoy the varity of musical selections that the Canteen Deejays have provided throughout the thread. All DeeJays are happy to fill requests dedicated to the troops if we can.

All music is removed on Monday!
Thanks to all the DeeJay's for their time & effort providing entertainment for the Troops!

When my niece lived here, and was small, I would have bundled up and been out in the cold, but I'm old now and it's cold out there. d:o)

I have to report for Jury Duty at 8am Monday. It's downtown and I have to go to a parking garage....everything is metered and who has time to feed the meters. The 3 block walk is gonna be cold.

A snow storm coming? Snowmen? Snow angels? A snowball fight?

Hi, MS.B!

This One's For Minette!

"Potato-Ball"

My Humans are generous in ways that sometimes slip their minds
Bringing Home big noisy paper bags that contain such marvelous finds
Sometimes within the confines of the bag which is always a welcome treat
And sometimes later where things are put in places warm and discreet

Behind the low cabinet door in the shadows underneath the Kitchen sink
That is so much easier to paw open and slide inside than My Humans think
Where my Night Eyes, Whiskers and Taste Buds truly come to the fore front
Turning the surrounding blackness to light and help me on my hunt

While My Humans get ready for Bed in their Room Upstairs and down the Hall
I sniff and paw through the treasured mound seeking the perfect "Potato~Ball"
Not too large, yet not too small. Judging its roll after a pawed out fall
With perhaps, a lump or two that distorts a favored toy's perfect round?

Though, the added lumps should also create an attractive enticing sound
And throws off traveling in a straight line from a playful swat
As I carefully judge each "Potato~Ball" to see exactly what it's got
To offer in regards to having My Humans question their Cat's state of mind

Occasionally The Big One will get clever and try to dispose of my find
At three in the morning, the time when Humans are so easy to undermine
He'll look down at me and smile as I pretend to wonder where my toy went?
I'll find my "Potato-Ball" easily because it carries my claw marks and my scent!

Hold on a sec..

Dear Uncle Jack..
I LOVE my poem..it describes me purrrfectly!
The other day my Pretty One brought home a box of herbal tea..she left it on the counter top..
It had catnip in it!

I knocked it on the floor, and then got my head stuck in the box..
My Pretty One tried to be angry..
But I could tell from the sounds she was making it was just a ruse..she was laughing!
Love,
Minette

My black kitty, Kisa, doesn't talk too much but he loves to play fetch w/ my hubby. My other kitty, a black and white kitty, named Mi-Sook (Korean for pretty girl) talks more. Sometimes she chirps like a bird, especially when she's looking out the window. LOL!

Of course she is. Kitties are always popular, especially here. I know I'm a cat person. LOL!
