Jack Nicholson is one of my favorite actors.

His restaurant "Chicken Toast" scene in Five Easy Pieces was incredible and his role in Easy Rider was great, as well as many others, especially One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

It's a good film! Honecker was apparently averse to whatever slight reforms Gorby was putting forward and his dicatatorship stayed the the same right up till the Wall went down.

When did they change it from "And the Winner is . . . ."

to "And the Oscar goes to . . ." ?

I prefer the old way, more dramatic, but apparently it was nixed by the PC crowd . . .

I haven't watched it in years. I love movies, but the idea of a competition seems a little silly to me.

From what I saw Mirren embarrassed them all. She was a gracious winner and supported her Queen. I would think of going to some of these movies if just one real person was shown.

But, from what I saw of this year's lot, Ghost Rider has a pretty good chance of winning 50 or 60 Oscars alone (I mean it was dreck like the rest of what I saw - apparently that's what wins.)

The British always give better speeches. You never hear them thanking their agents. They know the audience at home doesn't care.

Did anyone else notice the last segment looked like it was...[Made on a Mac]

Are you talking about the interviews with the nominees? That montage was created by Errol Morris, an Oscar-winning documentarian ("The Fog of War") who was also the director of Apple's "Switch" ad campaign.

I haven't seen Ghost rider yet.

What did you see that won that you didn't like?

The first presenter "slipped" and said the winner is,,

They dropped the winner is quite a few years ago because the connotation is that if you have a winner the rest are losers.. and although that remains the fact, it seems nicer. Guess it is PC, but I personally like the wording now. We ALL KNOW what it means

Anyway, the only two films I saw were "Devil Wore Prada" and "The Queen." I love Helen Mirren and I'm so glad she won. I can't really comment on the other awards except that I think they should have given it to Peter O'Toole for fortitude alone, He does not look well.

I agree about Helen Mirren... she is an incredible actress. I really wanted to see "The Queen", but we've been so busy, we're way behind in catching any good movies. The only one we saw was "Letters from Iwo Jima" - because my stepson took us to see it when it opened in LA. There was lots of "Oscar buzz" around that film in December-January.

I'm sure I'll be seeing photos of the fashions for days. My favorite.....Cate Blanchette..she's always so classy.

I agree... Cate Blanchette looked classy as always tonight. Helen Mirren looked wonderful in that beautiful dress as well...

you know it is easier for the 20 & 30 year olds to look wonderful in the gowns. Helen is near 60 if not 60 already, I believe.

Who wore that orange one...completely cut out back? was that Gweneth Palthrow? I loved that dress..

There were some lovely gowns & jewels represented

Cate Blanchett has such great fashion sense...I loved her dress a couple of years ago, the one with the scarlet sash.

I think my favorite gown tonight was Penelope Cruz's...

I hope you get your furnace looked at soon...it shouldn't be going on and off like that, could be dangerous...please take care.

On reflection, I don't think the movies were that much better this year, I just think the Academy did a better job of nominating some of the best ones out there. I was totally turned off last year by the hoopla over Brokeback Mountain.

I am still upset that noone mentioned our troops. They love the movies and many of us have spent mucho bucks purchasing DVDs to send to the troops, who always request movies on their wish list.

Signing off and turning in now. Thanks again to all who participated tonight. Enjoyed it.

I agree with you about Celine Dion. Her talent is amazing, and her song tonight was absolutely the best part of the show. Even the audience of "celebrities" seemed in awe to hear her sing.

I haven't watched the Oscar show in years, but have to say this one was too long and very close to boring most of the time.
