Let's Not Say Doctored Photo
My Camera | March 25, 2007 | Nick Danger

Posted on 03/25/2007 3:34:00 PM PDT by Nick Danger

Last night we had a fine time speculating as to whether the photo on the left, shown on the ANSWER web site, is genuine... or a Photoshop job.

The photo at the right, found on the UPI web site, has the street lights in the same place, but it has more detail and a better background, making it possible to try to piece together where the photos were taken.

I went out there today with my trusty camera and tried to find the same angle. I think we can say that the photo is most likely genuine.

At left is my shot of the same place, taken about three hours ago. BTW, the weather was much nicer today... I wasn't even wearing a jacket. Last week it was twenty frigging degrees and very windy, brrrr.

Here is an overview, courtesy of Google Earth, showing the area around the photo. The red "X" is where I was when I took my photo. This also shows where we were standing last week to greet the protestors with the "traitors" sign.

Thanks, Nick!

GREAT work! That was a very entertaining thread yesterday here at the Old Same Place!

It simply saw it as a long lens photo. They tend to compact a crowd but I wouldn't call it 'doctored'.

Gotta keep the Pajamamedia crew sharp...if that WAS doctored, we woulda found it!

Other tricks were done to make sure it looked like a huge crowd. Notice that the background was removed and the crowd blurred for effect.

A professional photograph is not blurred unless the photographer wanted it that way.

Also notice, that when there is some non-left-wing demonstration, the photo is taken from far away and you see the crowd from a great distance - thereby making it look smaller.

Photoshop is not necessary to make a crowd look small or large.

Yes, I would also say it was a telephoto lens, taken at a distance so it compacts the crowd. Also carefully cropped, so what I imagine are empty spaces to the right and left of a parade of people are removed, making the crowd seem larger. I would guess that there may have been a few thousand people, and that almost all of them are in that photo.

Given all the college leftists and useful idiots, and the money available to bus them in, it's not surprising that they could round up that many people.

The red "X" is where I was when I took my photo.

Very brave of you to snap the photo from the middle of the road...

Nice work. Thanks for setting the record straight.

Conservatives tend to protest differently anyway. Our protests are far less vocal. We tend to protest by ballot, boycott, and mail.

No clownsuits for us.

Perhaps the American public has been dummied down to such an extent that only clownsuits draws their attention.

Country of 300 Million and that's it? It's tough to be a traitor like them and that's all the can muster. I'm ashamed of them all. They should go on down to the Vietnam wall and see the last group of men they put the knife in.

Fortunately, if I was there, I could spit in their faces and they would apologize to me. I guess not ... funny how traitor pretend-pacifists feel when they are personally challenged.

It's a six-lane bridge, with a sidewalk on each side.
