Since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, our nation has fought a global war against violent extremists who use terrorism as their weapon of choice, and who seek to destroy our free way of life. Our enemies seek weapons of mass destruction and, if they are successful, will likely attempt to use them in their conflict with free people everywhere. Currently, the struggle is centered in Iraq and Afghanistan, but we will need to be prepared and arranged to successfully defend our nation and its interests around the globe for years to come. DOD

Our enemies include all the Muslims who dream of knocking Western Civilization off its perch atop humanity’s dung heap. Islam is fractured into any number of sects, tribes and ethnic groups, but the dream of destroying us cuts across all the fault lines. Islamic terrorists are merely the tip of a very large spear.

The determination behind that fight is real, the hatred is real, and the excuses for doing this are very real in the minds of those who have decided to walk that path. We can respond in two ways: Try to ignore or negotiate with people who do not want to negotiate in good faith, because what they want is our destruction, or to stand up against the darkness of those who see all of us, our way of life, our culture and our aspirations as something worth eliminating.

We had a wonderful day yesterday...a birthday party for my now 6 year old granddaughter. All my girls were there. It was lovely.

Watching for news on the abducted soldiers, the battle in Lebanon and for Israel’s next move as well as how the cease-fire between Fatah and Hamas is going.

But first I will torture myself with the Sunday talking heads.

Israel Attacks Hamas Leader’s House
AP ^ | May 20, 2007

An Israeli air force plane fired a missile at the house of a leader of the Islamic militant Hamas after sundown Sunday, witnesses said. Hospital officials said eight people were killed.

The airstrike followed an Israeli decision earlier Sunday to step up attacks against militants from Islamic Jihad and Hamas because of repeated rocket attacks at Israel.

Residents said the house belonged to a local Hamas commander, but they did not give his name.

The Israeli military confirmed it carried out an airstrike but gave no details.

ALARM - Forces explosion heard in Beirut
BEIRUT - a very violent explosion, of still unknown origin, was heard Sunday with 23H45 local (20H45 GMT) in Beirut, noted a journalist of AFP.

No, Bahbah, that is why I posted here and was asking you....it has been REALLY QUIET in many places lately, and when I came upon this, it sent up all kinds of red flags...so I wanted to get another opinion. Thank you for looking at it.

Fox was saying earlier that they got a tip of two heads in a canal. They drained the entire canal and there was nothing there. This might be part of that rumor.

I can’t find anything anywhere else about this and this source looks Arabic and I have no translator. Could be propaganda - I hope.
