But he praises the Columbine killers and calls them heros. Not Islamists. So I think he saw himself aligned with them, not al-Qaeda

I had heard that McVeigh chose April in commemoration of Hitler’s birthday...

He chose the exact anniversary of the Waco assault by the FBI.

And be careful - believing anything other than that OKC was done by Iraqis makes you a pariah around here. Interestingly while people love to make a huge deal of possible anniversaries of all terror attacks, in this specific case it never gets mentioned (Hard to see why Iraq or Islamic terrorists would care about the Branch Davidians.

Thanks, but the pic I remember was different.

Ck post #82, the pic is gone, but the caption that was written underneath is in the post, that's where I first saw the spelling Ismail.

You said — “Just saw on the DC local news there was a formal ‘detention’ letter filed regarding him by authorities long enough for a DR to officially say he was mentally ill.”

I read a little bit more on that, later... It was reported that the form had a certain checkbox that was not checked, and it appears that it was that checkbox which might have made it necessary for reporting. But, since it wasn’t checked — it wasn’t reported.

It seems a bit too early to sort out all these details on what happened there. I think we’ll hear in another day or two...

Star Traveler

Sure, it reminds me of Timothy McVeigh and how Bill Clinton went ranting on and one about domestic terrorism. No real difference between this guy and any other suicide bomber, but maybe motive. It doesn’t look like he was interested in establishing world Islam rule, although I question the inscription on his arm.

We will find out more about the exact nature of the terrorist and his true goals in the days following.

But TERRORIST nonetheless, how else do you assign his actions if it wasn’t to traumatize and terrorize people.

A nutcase rants and mass murders people and he is a terrorist? To achieve what political message? It is apparent that his intent was to teach a lesson, like many of these people do. Terrorists want much much more than that. Don’t make the mistake of putting all mass murders into the same box - it takes away from the real terrorists that have the power to destroy civilization.

You said — “The package may have been mailed Saturday. Most post marks are from the Bulk Mail Centers. If he mailed from the Campus Post Office, it could have born a VT stamp, but this is not indicated nor known if the USPS allows this anymore.”

It was definitely mailed on Monday and has the time stamped (or really “written”) of 9:01 AM. The authorities have already talked to the guy who received the package and that was the only one he received from Cho.

The address and zip code were wrong, so it was delayed by one day, in arriving.

Star Traveler

What’s with the zip code crossed off 3 times. I guess he was kind of rattled when he wrote it...or is this a symptom of someone having some kind of schitzophrenic attack?

NBC will exploit the video for ad revenue ever so slowly. What I observed from Cho’s performance is that he was defending his shit writing. My immediate impression is that he is playing a character from his writings. Absolutely no schizophrenia, rather a narcissistic personality disorder with borderline paranoic delusions. As for the campus cops, they should have had Cho on a daily check purely on the basis of his menacing, hate-filled demeanor. When the first shooting took place it should have been standard procedure to pay a visit to Cho. It looks as though he was waiting to be arrested but no one showed up. All I know is that record numbers of students are going to be packing firearms and guns are flying off the shelves in campus community all over the country this week. It’s the only answer since jelly-spined administrations will not back up campus police in these threat situations. Our elites will not fulfill their role in society and nothing is going to change until the boomers have passed from history. Until then my daughter is getting weapons training before she goes to college, then it will be her decision. I’ll also be looking for schools that have armed security in all the buildings. No more sitting ducks. No more PC. Still thinking of playing the gun conrol card, Democrat party—or Mayor Bloomberg, for that matter?

Exactly. This was a classic spree killing.

I’d say both. Mix and match radicalism, on top of psychosis.

I am beginning to think what we have here is a very sick, angry, anti-American, actually anti-everything American, anti-Christian, anti-capitalistic person, one who had every intention of paying us back for whatever reasons.

It's interesting him rambling about his "brothers and sisters" and what we did to them. He said that with an extra side of anger behind it.

I am pretty sure we are going to find out exactly what this guy was all about or what he perceived himself to be about, soon.

His anger was really driven, razor sharp hate.

I personally feel, for whatever his reasons, or mental state, he sympathized with everything against America, our religion and our system.
