He was a good go to guy for info., and a staunch supporter of the 2nd amendment. He will be missed.

RIP Boris.

RIP Boris, sounds like he lived a great life, doing the things that any nerd like myself would have loved to do.

It’s good we’re all able to say goodbye and raise a glass to absent friends on FR. Salut, Boris!

Thanks to all who left a note. He did indeed have quite an impact here at FR and it’s great to know he is so fondly remembered. I remember impressing him with some pretty irreverent humor aimed at a couple of our top managers once and how hard we laughed. That was one of my most fulfilling experiences as his friend. He was indeed a brilliant comic and it was great fun trade laughs and I will miss him for that. I’ll be passing this thread on to his friends and family and know they will be proud.

Came for a visit thinking it was a post on Boris Yeltsin.

Sadly, I did not know Boris - what an honor to have called him FRiend.

Condolences to all his FReeper friends.

Rest in Peace my FRiend. I don't remember Freeping with him but based on the company he kept, he must have been a fine fellow.
My Condolences to his Family.

Boris was a great fellow, he never left a conversation before enriching all who participated with his insights and vast stores of personal knowledge. He was the closest I’ll ever come to having a personal consultant for the rocket sciences. His posts would send me and others off googling for entire specializations of the rocket science field, I learned a great deal from him, he was always generous with his time when it came to discussions on rocketry and physics, and will miss him dearly. I specifically remember what amounted to him giving FR a graduate level lecture on ion thrust engines when the first ion thrust prototype had a successful test. I will never shake the idea that NASA is being run into the ground because too many paper pushing bureaucrats and not enough engineers are running the show today. God bless him.

Sorry for your loss Rockitz, and thank you for letting us know here.

I have some questions I'm saving up for the Almighty:

1. Why did You put everything so bleeping far apart?
2. Why did You make us so short lived?

Looking at the way the universe is designed, it almost seems to have been deliberately arranged to prevent interstellar travel and interactions between (presumed) intelligent species...

“I am in my 50s as well. I had many a private talk with Boris. Sigh.”

Lucky you. I only got to talk to him a couple of times. I’m in my early 50’s, and now I’m going to miss talking to him again. Oh well, he’s got some much more knowledgeable folks to talk to now, so I guess I’ll just have to wait my turn. God bless him, his family, and his FRiends.
