It just amazes me how quickly Thompson has caught on here. I’m not criticizing Thompson or his supporters, really. I’m just scratching my head a little.

Stop scratching and I'll explain. Thompson doesn't flip-flop. Thompson is a conservative. Most Freepers like principled, consistent conservatives.

Thompson won't grab our guns, won't take our money, wants smaller government spending, will secure the borders and offer no amnesty, will fight the Jihadis as well as the dhimmis and doesn't support the homosexual agenda.

To sum up, he doesn't have to apologize for or hide the existence of or flip-flop on any of his positions when addressing conservatives.

The FEAR OF FRED is spreading....

Hannity and Thompson lie about Reid
By CafeNow | bio

Well, I just watched Sean Hannity and former senator Fred Thompson lie on Fox Noise about what Sen Reid said about the Iraq war.

This quote is from the following URL,

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,267181,00.html

Please note this is a FOX NEWS web site.

The quote in question is as follows:

“Now I believe, myself, that the secretary of state, the secretary of defense and you have to make your own decision as to what the president knows: that this war is lost, that the surge is not accomplishing anything,” Reid, D-Nev., told reporters.

Nowhere in this quote does Reid say that he thinks the war is lost.

Admittedly the language is a little convoluted, but it appears he’s saying he believes the Sec of State and the Sec of Defense think the war is lost.

It’s nice to see that Fred is willing to go on Fox with Hannity and lie.

Is this the right wing hero? A liar?

No.. Rudy would be his Vice. I think Rudy is a great speaker but Fred would beat him. If you break it down, its about who is more presidential and Fred takes him.. IF the man gets in. If Fred doesn't jump in. Rudy owns this primary and election.

That’s actually a true story about Keith Richards.

I had to miss the show, and am trying to catch up by reading the thread. prairiebreeze, your posts make me feel like I heard the interview!

I agree that a Republican who can and will come straight out and tell it like it is and really go after the Democrat surrender monkeys like Reid and Pelosi, will capture a lot of the voters in this country.

I am more and more convinced that Fred Thompson is that man. I’m starting to get excited and feel some confidence again, and it’s been a while since I’ve felt that way.

Politicalmom, great job on your first live thread! If you have a ping list, I’d like to be on it.

Thompson doesn't flip-flop.

So Thompson still supports McCain-Feingold?

Is this twisted, tortured "logic" typical on such sites? If it is, that would explain how dhimmis like whiteflagreid and burquapelosi enjoy so much support from the looneyleft.

initially jumping on the Thompson bandwagon due solely to him being a viable alternative to the top 3, but quickly developing a major league admiration for him after taking a closer look.

You're talking about me. Was very excited when the talk about him started but the more I read about him the more I like and respect him. And, I have never seen him on Law and Order. Don't even know when it's on.

And we’re clamoring all over a SENATOR? (And I’ve heard the argument over and over again right hear that a Senator can’t win a presidential election).

Usually a Senator doesn't bring enough to the table, but there are exceptions. Didn't a Senator make it to the White House in 1960? I know...different time, different circumstances, but it can happen. Perish the thought that a Senator from New York can do it in 08!

“BUT...he is on “Law and Order” through the May TV sweeps. If he jumped in the race before the season ended, NBC would either have to drop the show or give every candidate equal time. Plus he is the “fill-in” for Paul Harvey...same equal time story. I look for the announcement the day AFTER “Law and Order’s” season ends”

I don’t think the equal time rule kicks in until you are a declared candidate with you name on at least one state ballot.

Fred could set up an exploratory committee, collect cash, and campaign without declaring until the TV season is over.

Prediction: Fred gets the nod and before the first debate Hillary’s team demands that she is given something to stand on behind the podium all in the name of “ fairness “.

Same mindset? Yes.

And I'm sure Fred Thompson is, too. That's what has me worried.

Seriously, there is a good temporary solution and I’m not joking here. It was commonly used by my coworkers when I was a flight attendant. It is NOT meant to be a “makeup” product but it works very well. Something that might be needed after a short layover with not enough rest......just don’t know that I want to mention it in this forum.

I’m very excited! I’m hoping Fred is only gathering momentum up until he announces rather than still pondering the nomination itself. If he decides not to run I think the Republican party is in deep trouble in 2008. Romney is suspect to many folks and can not seem to generate any excitement. Plus he is from Massachusetts ( as I am ) and I think the very mention of a politician from MA raises an eyebrow.
I’d like to see a Thompson / Hunter ticket at this point.
