I was over there in December for a week and stayed in several French homes. Many, many French citizens are just as fed up with the liberal, socialits, marxist, abetting, corrupt governmental policies in their country as we are in ours. They are voicing those feelings in the vote today and I believe it will make a difference...they sure hope it will. Those folks I spoke with, who feel this way, still, to this day, hold the United States in high esteem.

The DBM portrays France (and other countries) as being anti American and most buy into the belief that all French are anti American.

Thanks for the on-the-spot, real life report.

Gotta love the french.

Re: Royal speaking on CSPAN.

I misread your post and switched to CNN to find them showing terrorists how to destroy Boston by blowing up a LPG (Liquefied petroleum gas) tanker...

Way to go, guys! CNN is still French!

Good post. Many weary Americans need to hear this sort of anecdotal evidence more than some numbers from a talking head on TV.

Exactly.

So can anyone here explaine what a "French conservative" is?

Anyone have a link to some opus that attempts to tell us what this fellow is all about?

Congratulations!
And thank you to the French people who see things “rightly.”
I see, from your profile page, and I have heard there are many native French who remember and love the Americans.

His three main themes were:

- Work is necessary for prosperity

- Lower Taxes

- Law and Order

On those issues he’s arguably to the Right of the current Republican Administration — to say nothing of the ‘Rat Congress.

France may have been a disappointment to us re: Iraq, but they do have the largest non-US force deployed in Afghanistan. I remember the positives and the negatives.

I want France to be saved. I have a great uncle and a great great uncle buried there from the last two times we had to liberate them from oppression - I would like to avoid things getting to where I end up with a nephew buried there.

Cacademics-—cacademia—cacamedician-—Cacademy-—it can be used in all word forms. For example the “bloated, overpaid, self important, stench filled cacademic sector”

Glad you approve...I’ve been using it for a several years...I should copywrite it.

And it fits perfectly.

I wonder if there will be a meeting soon between President Sarkozy & President Bush. Sarko and France could be helpful in the Middle East. I suspect Sarko and France would like to do something to improve relations now that Chiraq is gone, and GWB certainly could use the help. Not that France would send troops to Iraq, of course, but there are other ways they could be helpful.

Most excellent news. Thank you Cincinna for all of your time and effort keeping us uncouth red staters up to speed.

Although I detest Chirac and the French intelligentsia, I sincerely like the French people I have met in my travels. Even Parisians are no ruder than the average New Yorker. I wish Sarkozy and greater France the best.
