Need some ammunition for the culture war.
Anybody have any suggestions?
You are clueless. I didn’t ask for a lecture I asked for novels. If you do not understand how fiction molds the culture then conservatives are doomed.
What are you talking about?
You sound like a liberal conspiracy theorist.
Read my lips

Good book read it. Most people want to be entertained though.
Looks good.
Not everything Animal Farm is one of my favoirtes though
Funny how some Freepers seem to be clueless how novels affect the culture.
Correction... Neal Stephenson.
The Bible by God
A very good book for conservatives..
Try the novels by Vince Flynn. Not necessarily conservative, but will give you some insight into venal congress critters. I think you will enjoy these.
Term Limits seems pretty apropos today...
Yeah I call you clueless or maybe as another Freeper told me “forget the snobs.”
Being new to this I didn’t think some Freepers were snobbish. I guess she is right.
FReepers are all right. When you sign up and post a thread the first day we tend to become suspicious; trolls are a pleasant pastime on occasion.
As for novels, that’s a tough one. I like light reading by Harlan Coban, Jonathon Kellerman, and Mary Higgins Clark. All have the traditional good vs evil, without the usual liberal freak stuff thrown in.
“I am Charlotte Simmons”, by Tom Wolfe was a fun read. “The Historian” by Elizabeth Kostova. There are lots of books out there.......what in particular were you looking for?
It's about the lives of young men on a basketball team in Hungary, from the last days of WWII to the Soviet invasion (and subsequent Hungarian uprising) in 1956.
It has a very strong anti-Communist and anti-Marxist message without being hokey about it. It's very effective at dispelling naive socialist delusions. There is profanity and talk of sex, but on the other hand one of the most interesting and respectable characters is a clergyman.
I think anyone would enjoy and learn from this book, but it would resonate particularly well with young people.
Series? For the lack of understanding by one poster who is probably an Eliza anyway we are doomed? BTW, fiction can be divided into two groups: one is 99.99% that lags contemporary culture but explains it to those who lag contemporary culture even more. The other is works of genius that do indeed mold culture. Uncle Tom's Cabin is one of the second group. Nineteen Eighty-Four might be another.
Check out Terry Goodkind’s Wizard’s series. While your at it read anything by David Gemmel. Both authors promote conservative values.
