Michelle Malkin: Small minority, big problem
Washington Times ^ | 5/26/07 | Michelle Malkin

Posted on 05/26/2007 1:50:36 AM PDT by JohnHuang2

If we believe the spin of Associated Press headline writers, there's little cause for concern about a new Pew poll of American Muslims. "Most U.S. Muslims reject suicide bombings," the AP headline writer blithely reports.

But the details of the poll show the always-downplayed tiny minority of jihadi sympathizers in America is cause for big concern.

The poll found that while 80 percent of U.S. Muslims believe suicide bombings of civilians to defend Islam cannot be justified, fully 13 percent said they can be justified, at least rarely. One in four younger American Muslims find suicide bombings in defense of Islam "acceptable at least in some circumstances."

About 29 percent of those surveyed had either favorable views about al Qaeda or did not express an opinion. Yes, they either gave al Qaeda thumbs-up or had no opinion about the terrorist group responsible for slaughtering nearly 3,000 of their fellow Americans on September 11, 2001, and responsible for a global bloodbath from Bali to Britain, the Middle East, and beyond.

A third believe the invasion of Afghanistan to take out al Qaeda training camps after September 11 was wrong. In addition, only 40 percent of all American Muslims believe Arab men carried about the September 11 attacks -- joining Charlie Sheen, Rosie O'Donnell and the inside-job conspiracy-mongers. The poll focused particular concern on jihadi sympathy among young Muslims and black Muslims:

"Muslim Americans reject Islamic extremism by larger margins than do Muslim minorities in Western European countries. However, there is somewhat more acceptance of Islamic extremism in some segments of the U.S. Muslim public than others. Fewer native-born African American Muslims than others completely condemn al Qaeda. In addition, younger Muslims in the U.S. are much more likely than older Muslim Americans to say that suicide

What’s to worry? Only about 300,000 of the muslims in America believe that cold blooded murder is an acceptable form of religious and political expression.

I believe it is very important to note that Shiites are not the Suicide bombers. It is only the Sunni

The Shiites fight but they do not blow themselves up. The Sunni’s are the minority in the Muslim world.

I think you’ve got that wrong. Sunnis are the majority, and also the bulk of Al Qaeda.

I would have like to have seen similar poll numbers for Irish Americans during the heydey of the IRA.

I bet the media spun them the same way--"_only_ 40%..."

:-(

The Mother and Co-worker of Eric, the white Texan mahometan, are hoping and praying that he will convert back to Christianity.

Apparently they don’t know that if he EVER leaves Islam, the Imam of his mosque will issue a Fatwah calling for his Death. Mahomet’s insane death cult sentences every Apostate to DEATH. It’s in the Koran, among the “prophet’s” other nonsensical droolings and ravings.

And, by the way, the Hadiths say that Jews are descendents of Apes and Pigs (I guess that makes Mahomet a Darwinist).

I wonder if all these “nice” American mahometans believe that part of their religion, too.

Or are they “cafeteria” mahometans?

Or are they “cafeteria” mahometans?

You never know when they'll turn over to their extremist flavour. Like that suicide bomber convert from Belgium.

I am not aware of any mosques that have been shut down in the US for fomenting terrorism. Muslim traditions seem to promote separatism from US culture.

Meanwhile, our black robes have determined that high school students cannot say “God” without violating the Constitution.

Traditions make a country. It is easy to see where we are headed.

Big reason for concern. Since we don’t know which people walking around are part of the 26%, all should be forced to sign a statement saying that they do not favor suicide bombing and other terrorist activities. Those who won’t sign are deported immediately. Those who sign are deported on the spot because their ideology tells them to lie.

Interesting map. I was aware that Shiites were associated with Iran, but I didn’t realize they were concentrated there quite that exclusively.

That map should also indicate Europe in the Sunni colour- most Muslims therein are also Sunni.

I would have like to have seen similar poll numbers for Irish Americans during the heydey of the IRA.

We have a Republican Congressman to our shame that thinks the IRA is just ducky.

My opinion is that anyone, native born or immigrant who thinks that should have their residency/citizenship revoked and be thrown out of the country. Once you have determined that killing innocents is ok to force your political ideas on the public you are no longer fit for civil society.

Yes, but you do not see anything like this about Muslims who convert to Christianity. This is old news and this show has been around for several years.
