Mironov Tells Kyoto Experts The World Is Getting Cooler
By Simon Shuster
Staff Writer

Sergei Mironov

ST. PETERSBURG -- It was a failure from the start. Russia's biggest conference on the Kyoto Protocol, which aims to fight global warming, began with a speech from a top official who denied that global warming even exists.

"In reality, the scientific basis for the protocol is fairly weak," Federation Council Speaker Sergei Mironov told a crowded opening session of the two-day conference Thursday, which drew more than 200 environmental experts and carbon market participants from around the world. "In the opinion of many experts, the emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere does not have any effect on the climate."

On this point, Mironov stands on the fringes of global scientific opinion. A growing consensus has formed among top scientists and politicians, who have been warning governments to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases being spewed into the atmosphere. The Kyoto Protocol, first signed in 1997, created a system of financial incentives for doing this.

“I really think this BS bubble is finally going to burst.. This insanity has gone on far too long..”

IMHO, when this is all said and done, Clinton’s name will be all over this. Right now Gore is Hillary’s biggest threat. The Clinton’s want Universal Health Care as their money laundering operation, not global warming.

“OMG! Four years of private school education and they can plant trees.”

What they should have learned was how to prevent the laundering of money by Carbon Offset firms.

Don’t take this the wrong way. I think your biggest mistake was not letting hunters on your property. Hunters are the biggest environmentalists I know. They understand how to preserve areas, prevent deforrestation and maintain the delicate balance of nature.

Hunters from my area went out, planted trees, helped owners preserve their land in return for an opportunity to land a deer which they would use for food.

You would have had hunters support. Hunters are environmentalists kryptonite.

Not sure on the whole issue altogether. But even one of the big oil companies, I think Exxon stated they were convinced.

Global changes are happening will continue as I sense the trend and I’m not sure if there is a man made issue to be addressed or not. Sometimes I wonder if man just always wishes to believe he has more control over the environment than he does.

But that doesn’t subtract from the issue of energy conservation and new energy creation via current and needed future technolgies.

I dream about new technology chaning the equation of wealth for power globally. I hope we will see it.

***Carbon Credits - the Tulip Bulbs of the 21st Century?***

EXACTLY! And the price of the CREDIT BULBS will rise and rise until the last one holding them will be unable to sell them. (Hope it’s Al Gore.)

Like “Gore” in the Rush parody says, ‘This summer is going to be hotter than it has all year long!’

I agree with you. CONSERVation seems to be a bad word for CONSERVatives. I also think many people like Exxon or even Rupert Murdoch will go over to the other side to try and be liked and appreciated by the fascist left.

THAT’S IT!

Buy a carbon credit and KEEP ON POLUTING. And Al Gore and his partner in a firm that SELLS carbon credit get richer and richer.

“i really think this b.s. bubble is finally going to burst.”

don’t count on it. these are hardcore stalinists who insist on compliance with their global warming edicts. they will get want they want because they have snookered a large part of the electorate into voting green.

the insanity will continue. hillary! will be elected and onanism central will continue as the secular types control lots of money through “carbon” taxes. (the clintonistas called it a b.t.u. tax in 1993 but it didn’t go over so well. now it’s called a carbon tax that will probably be implemented by these insufferable democrat punks.)

***The climate fearmongers switched from global cooling to global warming in a heart beat.***

Are you old enough to remember about 25 years ago when the same people said that we were going to DIE OF THE COLD IN THE DARK?

“Most of the cash from credit sales would go to lawyers and brokers on the carbon market, but the biggest gains from Kyoto go to the environment.”

My wife buys up massive amounts of carbon. For every $1000 sent to her pay-pal account, she buys one caret in diamonds...

"I fought for five years, trying to protect an enormous, gorgeous, dense, old-growth forest from the enviro-fascists who slapped me with one mindless regulation--and expense--after another."

Can you expand on that please?

On this point, Mironov stands on the fringes of global scientific opinion.

It is a darned good thing there are scientists willing to stand out there on the fringe of "opinion." Mironov is in good historical company out there on the fringe.
