Thousands of people gathered at the Angel de la Independencia to witness the Miss Universe National Costume competition, which was held outdoors and was open to the general public. The 77 contestants paraded in alphabetical order for around 45 minutes. Some contestants wore enormous costumes, while others wore the traditional attire of their countries. The most applauded contestant was Mexico (Rosa Maria Ojeda), followed by Spain (Natalia Zabala). Miss USA Rachel Smith, (on the left) who wore a very creative female Elvis Presley costume, was booed by the audience, due to the unstable political relations between Mexico and the United States. On the right photo is our very own Anna Theresa Licaros wearing a very elegant spanish-inspired costume. Watch this video from a Mexican website covering the National Costume competition where Miss USA was booed by the public. According to the clip, crowd favorites are Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, Philippines and Japan

I'm liking those people less and less all the time.

Thank you, Jorge Busho, for ceding America to the toilet republic of mehico.

Miss Mexico will be representing her country in a gown decorated with sketches of corn and cactus fields, after the original design featuring bullets and hanging scenes drew accusations of poor taste, a Miss Universe pageant official said. "Aesthetically, the dress is beautiful," said Lupita Jones, a former Miss Universe who now runs Miss Mexico operations.

"It is the same model, the only thing we have changed are the decorations, which pained some people." The original floor-length dress, cut from a traditional, natural cotton called manta, was decorated with scenes from Mexico's 1926-1929 Cristero War.

Shows how little I know. Here I had no idea that this was why Mexicans hate America yet some reporter from an entertainment magazine has it all pinned down as a simple matter of fact.

We should have OWNED Mexico 100 years ago.

It's not too late.

I’m sick of this! Our politicians care more about what freaking Mexico thinks of us than Americans! It is time to seal the border and send home all the illegals, and if a Mexican tries to come in this country again illegally we shoot them at the border!

I will no longer vote for anyone who believes we should keep allowing Mexicans to come here illegally!

I would have booed too. When did the Elvis white jump suit become our “National Costume”?

These are the illiterates who say the border crossed them not the other way around.

These are the illiterates who are offended at the adjective “hispanic” and prefer the word “laateeeeno”

You may be onto something — it wasn’t much of a costume.

On this clip of her falling the crowd seems to start out applauding (before she fell) — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANAsj4ihg6w

I’d say they are pretty much already full. It’s spilling over, now.

This was an absolutely disgraceful treatment of a beautiful young woman. What were they booing? Did they think she fell on purpose?

Hey Mr. president, maybe if we tear down the fences and offer to pay the illegals for not working they will like us more and not boo us.

The canadians booed a US hockey team made up of 12 year olds , they routinely boo the US National anthem and the Mexicans hate our guts, so why are we playing monica lewinsky to them?

Close the borders. And have a mirror foreign policy, we treat them the way you treat us! Send poison to china, send criminals to canada and mexico.
