"We are in a transition time in history when the only way we can
get to where we need to be is by starting from where we are," he said. "If we simply spend our time criticising one another for where we are,
that will further delay our departure for where we need to be."
Heh?

Doesn't matter if it's hypocritical. It's to make the fans feel good about doing something to save the earth, and to link the performers with the latest leftist fad.

This concert is more than just raising awareness. It is the culmination of the entire Gore program to inflict intention neuroses on young people.
The quote about leaving lights on in an empty house is right in line with the Sheryl Crow admonition re one square of toilet paper.
This massive effort is telling the young kids and young adults, “YOU ARE JUST NOT UPSET ENOUGH”.

If these people were TRULY against pollution, they would stop with the flim-flam and simply pollute less. I wonder if anybody did a survey of what kinds of cars were in the parking lots at these concerts? My bet would be they were chock full of gas guzzling SUV's or old smoking VW buses.....

“Ive always detested the raise awareness mantra. Its just another way to not actually have to do anything, except pat yourself on the back & feel smug.”
How exactly does one “raise awareness” of one of the most discussed topics on the planet? I mean, are there really people at these concerts going, “Global Warming? What the hell is that?”

“He is going to take another crack at it. That’s the point of “The Live Earth Concert”.”
I disagree. The purpose of these concerts was simply to make some money. The global warming angle is just marketing.

Wait...they had a concert for this? *heh*
What's amusing to me is that all the usual dumbasses that participated in "Live Earth" (ostensibly to save the planet) also participated in "Live 8" -- to PAVE the planet and bring the third world into the modern age.

With the proliferation of the Internet you would think the public would be less gullible to these scams but they fall for this drivel like mind numbed robots. They drive to the event in heavy traffic, pollute the parking lot with “tobacco” smoke, purchase bottled drinks that just get tossed away, purchase paper tickets to watch a resource heavy show with stars that were flown in on private jets and they purchase junk that’ll just end up in the landfill next year. They they drive home in traffic which causes more pollution while the stars fly home in their private jets to their huge houses that use more energy in a month that most do in a year.
Yeah, this will save the environment just like Live Aid solved hunger in Africa.

Leaving lights on at night (in crime ridden areas) is known as security and any Law Enforcement public outreach program contains these very instructions. gore-d.. “Do as I say... not as I do!”
