I pray you stay safe and out of the way. How is the typhoon season, btw? Are there more or fewer than usual this season? Does global warming affect your weather or is it only a Western Hemisphere problem?

# 4 at this time of year is average , but it is unusual to get hit with such a powerful foon this early in the typhoon season . Such a huge one would normally hit in September or early October .

I was going to ask you earlier in the week how rainy season was for you this year. I heard Kyushu and especially Kumamoto was getting hit pretty hard.

This is not good. I have a kid flying home from Taipei today. I think his first stop is Tokyo.

Do you think they will close the airports down?

Strong typhoon makes landfall on Kyushu, at least 44 injured

Saturday, July 14, 2007 at 17:21 EDT

TOKYO — Powerful typhoon Man-yi made landfall on Japan's southern main island of Kyushu on Saturday afternoon while injuring at least 44 people, forcing thousands of people to evacuate and leading to power cuts and cancellation of airline and railroad services.

This season's fourth typhoon is expected to continue to lash the Japanese archipelago, traveling along the southern coast of Honshu, the biggest of Japan's four main islands, through the Kanto region over the long weekend, the Japan Meteorological Agency said while warning of heavy rains, floods and strong winds.

If I could sing, I would:

To the tune of “Hang on Sloopy...”

“Haaaaaaang on Sushi. Sushi, hang on!”

(Seriously, be careful!)
