Our Canadian Freepers are under attack by the Left.

Has a lawyer looked at to see if it is authentic? If it is legit then that is pretty disturbing on so many levels.

Is the complaint from a Muslim? They are expert complainers.

More evidence that true civil rights are weak in Canada.

Interesting thread.
There are a few things that we must remember about Canuckistan:
Until 1972 (I think) they were a dominion.
They have a Charter not a Constitution.
NO Bill of Rights.
No First Amendment.
Not even sure if they have the principle of "innocent until proven guilty".
A nutcase (GLBT type)threatened to have the Pope arrested a few years back when he visited Canada.
There is no burden to prove injury, only a whiners claim that it has occured.
So, yeah, it's possible.
Personally, I am in for a monthly donation to help them get top legal representation.

I would like to draw your attention to section 48 of the Canadian Human Rights Act which allows the parties to settle a complaint in the course of investigation. I would be pleased to discuss the possibility of a settlement with you or your representative at any time. Damn...is it just me or does this sound like the Canadian government is trying to strong arm Free Dominion into paying off the complainer?

I am the investigator designated under Part III of the Canadian Human Rights Act to investigate the complaint of Ms. [name omitted at this time] against Free Dominion. As the investigator, it is my responsibility to gather the evidence in relation to the complainant's allegations and, once the investigation is complete, to report on my findings to the Members of the Commission.Apparently, the absolute right to face your accuser does not exist in Canada, either.
Isn't that just swell?

Yeah, it sounds like an extortion scheme similar to what the ACLU runs here in the US.

Looks like the time has come to move those Free Dominion servers OUT of Canada. That would be my suggestion as well.

Sounds like a whole lot of B.S. to me.
First off, The Canadian Government wouldn't post crap like that on a web site, If the crown decided to drag you into court on a charge of hate crime, they would arrest the owner and serve them in person. Those charges would be specified, ie. what laws and sections of law were violated.
Second, unlike the USA, the "offended person" isn't the one who decides if charges are laid or not laid. it is the sole decision of the crown attorney. They cannot offer an out of court settlement. That alone tells me this is B.S.
Third, the crown does not pursue damages for the offended party, they only uphold the law, and prosecute violations of it without any intent to compensate the "offended" or victim for damages. They would have to seek damages in a civil court, much like in the USA, but is hard to do in Canada.
So, if someone is threatening Free Dominion with legal action other than the Canadian courts, it's all B.S. Unlike the USA, it's very hard to sue anyone in Canada. They've had torte reform ages ago, where we still have to put a stop to sue crazy people in the USA.

Well, if any Canucks are up this late, I'm with you!
(As well as a gazillion other Freepers, you can count on that)
I can't get into the FD site, I haven't tried to post there in a couple of years, and it won't accept my name and password.
Actually I hope this is real. No time like the present to stand up to intimidation, whether directly or by "borrowing" the power of big-brother government.
I wonder who the best canuck conservative defense attorney is?

In fact. after reading a copy of the email, I can say without doubt that it is pure B.S. , an immature juvenile’s email sent by some twit who obviously doesn’t agree with the opinions posted by people who disagree with the leftist point of view in Canada.
Free Dominion would have been served by registered mail at the least, or by the RCMP personally if there was any such complaint.
Connie and party should simply phone the correct government department and ask if such a person works there.(There is no such government department in Canada called “Human rights”)

Looks like a blatantly phony extortion letter to me. Turn it over to the mounties.

The site works fine for me, although I didn’t try log in, as I haven’t posted there in years either, since I sold my house in Canada moved back to the USA permanently.
