FRED, INTERRUPTED (Paulestinians heckle Fred at Houston airport)
MSNBC ^ | July 25, 2007 | Carrie Dann

Posted on 07/26/2007 4:45:42 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

At a quick campaign stop at a Texas airport this morning, candidate-in-waiting Fred Thompson faced harassment from a young woman who was vocally displeased with the senator's conservative credentials. Her beef? Thompson's membership in the Council on Foreign Relations, a nonpartisan think-tank known as an influential heavyweight on US policy making.

The disgruntled woman worked her way into a reporter scrum and peppered Thompson with questions about his membership in CFR, which she derided as "the same group that's forming the North American Union with Canada and Mexico." Thompson, chuckling, replied: "Don't fuss at me, now," and went on to describe his participation in CFR and the American Enterprise Institute -- a conservative think-tank based in DC -- as sources for his "intellectual exercise."

The scrum went on, but at its end the woman's chorus of complaint started anew. "You are not a real conservative, sir!" she yelled as she was escorted out by police and TSA officials. "Please look into this, people!" Thompson ignored her on his way out to the waiting car.

--snip--

In addition to Thompson's vocal heckler, a second protestor was asked to leave the premises at this morning's campaign stop in Hobby. Unlike his counterpart, the man went quietly out a back door at officials' request. Neither protestor was arrested after being escorted off the property by police.

Here's the kicker: The two were spotted leaving together in a car sporting a Ron Paul bumper sticker.

"..ACU rating.."

Bogus rating system.

Leaves a lot of questions unasked.

I used to really like ACU's ratings and the issues they picked were pretty good. But that list in the Bush era really became distorted, as though they were picking votes cast just to favor certain congresscritters. The ends became the means. Just go look for youself at some of those rather obscure issues they picked and think about some of the other issues they refused to include.

Like with the immigration ratings sites, I'm starting to feel I can't trust any of them. And it's a shame. ACU used to really mean something in the late Nineties and even the first years of the Bush era.

Didn’t take long for the Paul bashers to crawl out of their rocks.

LOL No matter how bad it gets here on FR for the fans of Paul, it will never compare to the nonsense the losers in the article tried to pull.

"..one of the Ron Paul supporters.."

I don't feel, I think.

Conservatives adhere to;

God is where we start. We begin each meeting with a prayer. Most of us attend church and pray on a regular basis.

Many of us have pledged to "protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic", and have never been released from that pledge.

We know that most of the problems facing the U.S. today are the result of a general decline in morality, and will not stand for continuing erosion of it.

We believe in traditional family values, a good work ethic, fair trade, a sound economy, individual rights accorded any free men, and a government of men instituted to protect those rights.

If I left anything out, it is because I shall assume you get the general drift, and won't need any more planks spelled out.

"CFR is not a liberal organization, it’s simply a forum for exchanging views on foreign affairs."

And after having exchanged those "views", they return to their respective jobs in the highest levels of governement, the media, and international corporations to impliment those "views" into reality.

(sarc)I'm sure it is only pure coincidence that most of the movers and shakers in this country are members. (sarc/)

"Don’t you know they are rallying behind Angelina Jolie to take over the world??"

Take over the world, perhaps, but not with Jolie at the front.

Actually, it’s pretty much something you just have to do if you want to get anywhere in US politics. Doesn’t mean you’re a globalist any more than being in a garage makes you a car.

"Doesn’t mean you’re a globalist.."

Interestingly, the folks in the group have never promoted individual rights, individual responsibility, or sovreignty for nations.

Curious, that.

Depends on what you mean by globalism.

Many of the members are strongly for free trade, but would never sacrifice our sovereignty.

Just the fact that you MUST be an American citizen to be a member belies the premise of the tin foil crowd.

So your position is that NONE of the members espouse those things?

That’s a lie.

“Amazingly, the Republican ‘top tier’ MSM approved candidates are all CFR members.”

Yeah, but the Ron Paul bumper sticker is way more important. ;)

Whack-jobs support everyone, not just Paul. Paul doesn't condone their behavior.

Then explain why Paul panders so much to the whack-job "truther" crowd.

Oh pleeease, Don’t get them started. This is how it often starts - an undercover Paulista makes a scripted simplistic statement or question about Paul. Then the Ron Paul nuts all fly in like a flock of sea gulls to drop Ron Paul quotes all over us!!!!

Why are Ron Paul nuts chasing FDT? Why not Guiliani or Romney?

This makes no sense other that to show that Ron Paul is there as a firewall anode for the nutcase fringe class of the republican party to shave off a few fractional percentages from candidates.

Kucinich has more credibility than Ron Paul. (ouch)

Haven’t seen much of them lately. The had been working out of Clute, which is way out of my normal range of travel. Don’t know what they are doing with all of the cash that the Paulistinians have been sending them. I always joked that Paul’s Presidential campaign was his Congressional retirement plan. Maybe they are planning on keeping it in the bank?
