Thank you for the trip in your ‘time machine’.
Do you recall the link to the messages that had the terrorist crossing the border into Texas, and going to a book store in New York?
We did a lot of research on it.
Trail led to Arkansas and New Orleans.
OFF TOPIC, but FYI.

Public Letter to Harold Ford, Jr., Re: The O’Reilly Factor and Free Republic

The Honorable Harold Ford, Jr.
Chairman
Democratic Leadership Council
600 Pennsylvania Ave., SE, Suite 400
Washington, D.C. 20003
Dear Rep. Ford,
I appeared with you on the OReilly Factor on July 31, 2007, in my capacity as spokesman for FreeRepublic.com to discuss politics on the Internet. The host, Bill OReilly, falsely accused FreeRepublic.com of having the following comments on its site: “Homosexuals are dogs,” “I hate blacks,” “Hillary Clinton should be assassinated,” and “A stray bullet should kill her.”
To be blunt, those comments were made up by the OReilly Factor.
The OReilly Factor was not able to provide documentation that those comments appeared on FreeRepublic.com. A request for an on air retraction and apology has been ignored.
Let me assure you that, contrary to how the OReilly Factor portrayed FreeRepublic.com to you and the viewing public, FreeRepublic.com is not a site where people feel comfortable posting a comment such as I hate blacks.
As I made clear on the broadcast, those alleged comments cited by Mr. OReilly would be in violation of our posting guidelines and would not be tolerated by our moderators.
It is unfortunate that the OReilly Factor stooped to making up comments to besmirch the reputation of FreeRepublic.com in order to appear fair and balanced in its campaign against the Daily Kos. Being that the OReilly Factor has declined to correct the record, I am writing you personally so that any misconception you have of FreeRepublic.com is cleared up.
Sincerely,
Kristinn Taylor
Spokesman
FreeRepublic.com
Thanks for posting that. I saw that interview and Kristinn was sandbagged. I have read some inappropriate comments on FR, but never anything like those O’Reilly cited. Shame on him.
Yep.

Just catching up on the news here, and I am quite surprised to read about Debka, and the dirty bomb threats.. Debka has been very silent the past few years on these things, so this stands out. Also, because they’ve taken action in NYC, I can’t help thinking this will play into the volatility we’re seeing in the markets. It would be interesting to compare charts on this August and August 2001 with respect to short positions. Any traders out there that can pull up these charts?
FReeper tmp02 seems to have quite a good working knowledge of all things financial. Maybe he can help.
It certainly seems like the noise is getting louder.
Nice to hear from you again.
Thanks to Deacon Benjamin for the ping to this thread:

ISLAMABAD
Just heard about the latest NYC radiological plot. LEOs took to seriously enough to act...so should we.
IMHO, the next catastrophic attack will not occur until after GWB is out of the WH. Once a weak-kneed demo-creep is in power and islam’s evil pawns are sure there won’t be any meaningful retaliatory strikes, they will hit and hit HARD.
IMO, the NYC plot was just another probe.
Make no mistake, the next attack has been planned and is under review. It’s only a matter of time.
Being in the country, with plentiful food (deer, turkey, squirrel, grouse, etc.) and water (from a well), lots of guns and ammunition, I’m have a very good chance of survival. My greatest concern is refugees from the city. If necessary, lethal force will be used to protect this place I call home.
Make your time and make your preparations folks. Time grows short.

One VERY worrisome report is the one about the AQ training camps being evacuated (same as prior to the 9/11/01 attacks) and the stock market dive (same as prior to 9/11/01).
VERY worrisome.
These days I don’t pay much attention to all the news and alerts; however, this one has my attention.
Stay safe folks.
Hi AD.
Good hearing from you again.
FYI: We’ve covered Pakistan and NY here if you would like to scroll up read some of the posts.
I hope you’re having a good summer.
It’s a beautiful day today.
I think right now it is best to try to limit OT posting to TM. Focusing on what’s out there is important.

“NYPD Scales Back Heightened Anti-Terror Response”
August 11, 2007
ARTILCE SNIPPET: “The NYPD has scaled back its heightened anti-terror response, one day after authorities mobilized across the city in response to an unsubstantiated terror threat involving a “dirty bomb.”
Officials on Friday night established checkpoints in Lower Manhattan and other Manhattan entry points, where they deployed a battery of radiological sensors in response to what the NYPD called a “reported radiological threat.”
The testing revealed no presence of a radiological bomb.
By Saturday afternoon, authorities said they had scaled back both the monitoring and the checkpoints.
Authorities said the threat was unconfirmed and that the city’s terror alert status remained unchanged at Level Orange.
At one point Friday night, according to some reports, police had received information that terrorists might be targeting Manhattan’s 34th Street area. The NYPD, however, would not confirm that.”
Thanks nw.

“Christians held in Egypt for work on Web site”
Reuters ^ | 08/09/2007

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “CAIRO (Reuters) - Egyptian police have detained two Egyptian Christians for their work on the Web site of a Christian Arab group based in Canada, police sources said on Thursday.”
Somehow this slipped under my radar until this evening. My parents are visiting this weekend... was walking by the WH earlier and there was a massive no-go perimeter around it, covering an extra block or so in all directions. President Bush is in Maine so I’m not sure what that was all about. Probably nothing, but..
Would the NYPD act on a debka report alone? The reaction stumps me in some way... Only 24 hours later we are hearing that security is being eased? A Friday night attack against NYC doesn’t make a lot of sense though from an AQ POV, especially if targetting the economy. Granted, a successful dirty bomb attack in a business district could cause major disruption whenever it occurs, but the media is not ready to mobilize and Americans are going to bed... they want us to watch and get scared. The weather was probably unfavorable yesterday as well, much like chem/bio weapons, it’s all about dispersion.

Coalition base in Afghanistan attacked twice in one day
http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapcf/08/11/afghanistan.attack/index.html
Taliban militants attacked a coalition military base in southern Afghanistan for the second time Saturday and the third time this week, the U.S.-led coalition said.
It warned the ambushes could “possibly be a rehearsal for a much bigger attack, possibly an attempt to completely overrun the post.”
Afghan and coalition soldiers at Firebase Anaconda in Uruzgan province fought off the attackers Saturday. Several Taliban militants were killed, and two insurgents were wounded and taken into custody.
Earlier, another attack at the base led to fighting that killed four militants.
On Tuesday, 75 fighters ambushed the same outpost from three directions. Almost a third of them were killed when troops and U.S. warplanes repelled the attack. Along with U.S.-led coalition forces, there is a large Dutch troop presence in Uruzgan. See a map of the province and other hot spots »
“The insurgents are paying a high price to test our response to attacks on our bases,” said Army Capt. Vanessa R. Bowman, a coalition spokeswoman, according to The Associated Press.
“Would the NYPD act on a debka report alone?”
No.
Well now, this is nice.
