History Offers Lessons on Defeating the Enemy(GWB Speech to VFW)
realclearpolitics.com ^ | August 22, 2007 | George W. Bush

I want to open today's speech with a story that begins on a sunny morning, when thousands of Americans were murdered in a surprise attack -- and our nation was propelled into a conflict that would take us to every corner of the globe.

The enemy who attacked us despises freedom, and harbors resentment at the slights he believes America and Western nations have inflicted on his people. He fights to establish his rule over an entire region. And over time, he turns to a strategy of suicide attacks destined to create so much carnage that the American people will tire of the violence and give up the fight.

If this story sounds familiar, it is -- except for one thing. The enemy I have just described is not al Qaeda, and the attack is not 9/11, and the empire is not the radical caliphate envisioned by Osama bin Laden. Instead, what I've described is the war machine of Imperial Japan in the 1940s, its surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, and its attempt to impose its empire throughout East Asia.

Ultimately, the United States prevailed in World War II, and we have fought two more land wars in Asia. And many in this hall were veterans of those campaigns. Yet even the most optimistic among you probably would not have foreseen that the Japanese would transform themselves into one of America's strongest and most steadfast allies, or that the South Koreans would recover from enemy invasion to raise up one of the world's most powerful economies, or that Asia would pull itself out of poverty and hopelessness as it embraced markets and freedom.

Sooner or later we are going to have to give the muzzies the jihad they so desperately want. And this time we will finish the job.

I totally agree. One problem I see today is that our young kids are being turned into whimps by the schools. Not so when I was a kid. I believe that we have a goodly number of cowards in this country and they would be willing to surrender rather than take a chance on getting smacked in the face. All our kids need to spend at least two years in the service.

“Sooner or later we are going to have to give the muzzies the jihad they so desperately want. And this time we will finish the job.”

One would think it a goal of ALL true Americans as then we could target the psycho war of the Socialists, and perhaps put their ideology into the minority once again.

We need a leader with the strength of knowledge and compassion for our Constitution with a Congress comprised of leadership and strength of understanding exactly the same, and knowledge and understanding that the power IS the people.

We need elect Representatives for our CIC and our Congress whom will stomp PC into the archives of another Liberal failure, and press ahead with the job of elimination of Islamic Radical threat to not only the U.S., but the entire rest of the World.

Wouldn’t hurt to have some REAL help, but as we’ve found out the old adage “If you want something done, and done right, do it yourself” is quite true.

Yup......If we get attacked again, we need to put the middle east back into the 7th century were they want to be and keep them there. We should learn from the 2nd World War. At the end, in Germany and Japan, we had had it. We sent in our bombers and broke their will to fight. A lot of innocent people died, but we saved over 1/2 million of our own soldiers lives. As the Romans learned, over whelming numbers and power and the will to win, wins every time.

Not good news for us..
1. We don't have "overwhelming numbers" on our side and
2. Our "will to win" is a tad lacking.

The advantage we had in growing up, is any male teacher we had was likely to have been a vet of WWII or Korea. One of my most influential English teachers, read Olde English to us, worked as a longshoreman during summer breaks, wrote poetry and walked out of the “Frozen Chosin” with Chesty Puller.
