War, an idea proven by time.

I read Carnage and Culture or Culture and Carnage, I can’t remember but it was a good book and covered a lot more than military history. It got into a lot of pure anthropology. I love reading about theories of how we got to where we are today. That book will also just slip in a bombshell like disclosing the Spanish mastery of horses in warfare that came about from the invention of the modern saddle stirrup setup. Before calvarymen could fairly easily knocked off their horse. With the stirrup and then armor, that wasn’t going happen so much. And they dominated for a couple of centuries perhaps because of this. Who knows but I love the theorizing.
