Ann Coulter Shocks Cable TV Show, Declaring 'Jews Need to Be Perfected by Becoming Christians'
FOX ^ | 10/11/07 | Unknown

Slash-and-burn columnist Ann Coulter shocked a cable TV talk-show audience Monday when she declared that Jews need to be "perfected" by becoming Christians, and that America would be better off if everyone were Christian.

Coulter made the remarkable statements during an often heated appearance to promote her new book on advertising guru Danny Deutsch's CNBC show "The Big Idea."

In response to a question from Deutsch asking Coulter if "it would be better if we were all Christian," the controversial columnist responded: "Yes."

"We should all be Christian?" Deutsch repeated.

"Yes," Coulter responded, asking Deutsch, who is Jewish, if he would like to "come to church with me."

Deutsch, pressing Coulter further, asked, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians?" She responded: "Yeah."

Coulter deflected Deutsch's assertion that her comments were anti-Semitic, matter-of-factly telling the show's obviously upset host, "That is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews."

Ann Coulter can say whatever she wants but we Jews will rather face death and torture than reject our faith, whether to christianity, islam or anything else. I don’t expect christians to give up their faith...they will have to understand and accept the fact that we won’t either.

"Yes." "Yes." "Yeah." And an invitation to come to church with her are "over the top remarks"?

The over the top part is the headline writer's.

Thank you for your excellent post (#9).

Ann is absolutely right. The world would be much better off if people were wholly devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

We must personally decide whether or not to invite the Lord Jesus Christ into our hearts to redeem us, cleanse us, forgive us, change us into His image, and give us the promise of eternal life.

Acts 4:12 “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”

If you haven’t asked Jesus to come and live in your heart, do it today (Romans 10:9-10).

I agree with her most of the time (not this time), but sometimes she should learn the virtues of a well-timed STFU.

You should read the transcript. The headlines are wrong and the guy interviewing here made it worse than it was. The fact of the matter is, whatever Ann says there are those that will disagree with it. I think Jews need to re-evaluate their relationship with the Democratic party, and what Ann said is not going to make them change the way they vote, one way or another.

I suppose it is perfectly fine with you when muslims, such as Osama, say that all infedels should convert to islam? The MSM is fine with that but to have a Christian say all Jews should convert to Chrisitanity this is somehow offensive. Personally I think maybe you should STFU until you learn to read all of the relavent material related to an article and to think about what you have read.

Ann needs to lay off the meth, the crank...the eightballs. The girl’s gotta screw loose.

Unless you have evidence of such accusations, you ought to self-nuke your post, oh member of the Class of '07.

Welcome to FR.

The title in quotes doesn’t quite match what she appears to have said.

See post 96. Not only does Ann manage to say the country would be better off all Christian, but essentially she defines the Republican Party that way, a bunch of Christians in NYC.

You know, reading this transcript, one thing becomes clear: Deutsch was looking to be offended. Coulter so often ends up in the news for being "shocking" simply because she answers questions in a straightforward manner and whoever is interviewing her is begging to be shocked so he can be part of the show.

Then these shocked interviewers get to make a name for themselves in some small way by associating themselves with Mean Ann and maybe even portraying themselves as slaying the Mean Ann Dragon.

I've often read that Coulter knows exactly what she's doing and does it for money, but I think it's the media that's being calculating here. Ann's just being honest (we can't have that!), and she's no more shocking than many commentators out there. But it's a game now -- using Ann Coulter to make a name for yourself.

I guess the attack on Rush is floundering...

...so the MSM needs to go after Ann Coulter.

you mean there is something wrong with looking like this?

I mean it's easier to see her faith expressed on her necklace this way

Your post drifted into some hostile and irrelevant rhetoric about Hispanics and the word “foist”? that had nothing to do with what I wrote. The Inquisition wasn’t the only time in history that Jews were threatened by Christians, by the way. But again, my comments were in regard to what Ann Coulter said, and yours sounded like some pent up hostility against Jews.

Not surprising. All Christians want all non-Christians to convert, just like all Muslims want all non-Muslims to convert. Nothing new here.

Judaism is the only one of "The Big Three" religions that doesn't look to convert anyone (in fact conversion to Judaism is often discouraged), so Jews sometimes have a hard time understanding that alien (to them) mindset.

I don’t think anyone here means to offend; surely, I know I don’t!

Some of us, myself included, are far from being Biblical scholars, so I appreciate the input!

God Bless Ann Coulter, she dared to speak the Truth.

Amen. We all need to take a dose of salts and rid ourselves of political correctness and speak the Truth.

When the Apostle Paul was asked a similar question he responded with the following: Acts 26:28-29

28 Then Agrippa said to Paul, “Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?” 29 Paul replied, “Short time or long—I pray God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains.”

Ann isnt off on this at all. She is a Christian!

Ann's problem is: She doesn't present things in a logical way. For all her criticism of other women being too emotional, she herself tends to blurt things out without thinking about where she is and how her words can be used against her later.

That said, I don't have a problem with her telling what Christians believe, though I don't think she put it quite right. But why is he so offended? Christians, Jews, Muslims, everyone thinks their own religion is superior to the others. That shouldn't be any surprise to anyone.

But WHAT is she talking about here:

COULTER: No, it's true. I give all of these speeches at megachurches across America, and the one thing that's really striking about it is how utterly, completely diverse they are, and completely unself-consciously. You walk past a mixed-race couple in New York, and it's like they have a chip on their shoulder. They're just waiting for somebody to say something, as if anybody would. And —

DEUTSCH: I don't agree with that. I don't agree with that at all. Maybe you have the chip looking at them. I see a lot of interracial couples, and I don't see any more or less chips there either way. That's erroneous.

COULTER: No. In fact, there was an entire "Seinfeld" episode about Elaine and her boyfriend dating because they wanted to be a mixed-race couple, so you're lying.

She starts talking about Christians being diverse and then starts into "mixed-race" couples, and then tries to back up whatever she's saying by referring to Seinfeld. She's making no sense at all. It sounds ridiculous.
