UPDATE: The city of Malibu is advising residents in Puerco Canyon to begin evacuating due to a wildfire driven by powerful winds. This area is north of Pacific Coast Highway and about 1 mile west of Pepperdine University. Residents along the beach on Malibu Road may soon be evacuated. Pacific Coast Highway is closed between Kanan-Dume Road and Topanga Canyon. Residents are advised to head to the west. Evacuation centers are being set up in the Zuma Beach area.

A wildfire driven by powerful winds in the Malibu Hills this morning threatened a university, destroyed at least one home and forced the evacuation of hundreds more, authorities said.

It sounds like what you were describing. I told her to go to the clinic. Funny thing is... they have been staying indoors too.

I hope they recover quickly! Smoke inhalation is nothing to mess with.
If mine hadn’t subsided, I’d be heading for the doctor tomorrow.
I feel much better, today, though.

There’s 2 listed at CadCal, too.

Hollister Gilroy area and Arrowhead, provided I’m reading that one right.

You need to be a little careful with respiratory problems right now. There is a nasty flu bug going around Southern California. Lasts for 2 weeks and puts people out of action for that long. I came down with it a couple of days before the fires broke-out. This is one of the worse flu's I have ever had. Starts off in the lungs. Many people who get this might mistake it for problems with smoke from the fires. Coughing occurs throughout. Dry heaving coughing at first which switches to coughing up yellow stuff from the lungs (unless you smoke and then it is black stuff). Later stages are lite coughing with a clearer stuff up from the lungs. Last 2 weeks unless you drink a DanActive (Tm) every day. Wonder it all these particulates in the air would enhance the spread of an infection ? Just curious ?

The tree line picture is of the Horno fire (Camp Pendleton) and the other is the Poomacha Fire.

They are linked off the Air Force public web site...and the only photos listed. I have read on other lists that the military set up receive stations at each command post to receive the images real time, and to decipher them to fire commanders.

Hundreds of military aid photos here

Young Boy Started Buckweed Fire With Matches

AP) SANTA CLARITA, Calif. Officials blamed a wildfire that consumed more than 38,000 acres and destroyed 21 homes last week on a boy playing with matches, and said they would ask a prosecutor to consider the case.

The boy, whose name and age were not released, admitted to sparking the fire on Oct. 21, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Sgt. Diane Hecht said Tuesday. Ferocious winds helped it quickly spread.

“He admitted to playing with matches and accidentally starting the fire,” Hecht said in a statement.

The boy was released to his parents, and the case will be presented to the district attorney’s office, Hecht said. It was not clear if he had been arrested or cited by detectives.

The fire began in an area near Agua Dulce and quickly spread. It was among 15 or so major wildfires that killed 14 people, destroyed some 2,100 homes and blackened 809 square miles from Los Angeles to the Mexican border last week.

Authorities arrested five people for arson during that period, but none have been linked to any of the major blazes.

All but four of the blazes are now fully contained. Firefighters on Wednesday continued to cut lines around the remaining fires and kept a close eye on the weather.

Forecasters have said moderate Santa Ana winds could pick up later in the week.

Investigators have blamed an arsonist for setting a destructive wildfire in Orange County that blackened 28,500 acres and destroyed 16 homes.

Authorities were seeking the driver of a white Ford F-150 pickup truck spotted in a canyon area around the time the fire broke out. They said they wanted to talk to the driver, but stopped short of calling the person a suspect.

Officials offered a $285,000 reward to anyone with information that will lead to an arrest and conviction.
